Third person pov
"I'm just saying, it's been way too long since B adopted another kid. I mean, how long has it been since the last one?" Red Hood joked.
Robin rolled his eyes as he swung from one rooftop to another. The force of the wind gliding through his hair was a small comfort for having to listen to his adopted siblings and their nonsense. "What I fail to understand is your incessant need to constantly bring up adoption of a new kid for Batman. It is almost like you want to have to train a new vigilante or perhaps have to babysit? " Robin grouched.
His lips quirked up at the corner when he heard Red Hood choke on his spit for just the slightest for a split second before falling back into his usual scowl.
"You wish Demon Brat."
"Well I for one would love a new sibling!" Nightwing added his own two cents.
"Let's be honest here, Hood only wants a new sibling so B can stop paying attention to Hood and he can get away with whatever he wants, duh." Batgirl piped up.
Everyone could hear Black Bat snicker into the comms.
"Hey, we might get a sibling who actually likes the things I like for once?" Red Robin commented hopefully.
"Doubt it Red Robin. Someone who survives off two hours of sleep, cold cases, copious amounts of caffeine , and pure spite? Doubtful." Robin snarked.
Everyone's comms were filled with Red Hoods cackling.
"Boys."
"C'mon B, ya gotta admit that was pretty funny." Red Hood chuckled.
Batman simply grunted in reply.
Robin was about to fire his grappling hook when he heard a familiar scream. One that he and his family had been chasing for the last seven and a half years. "Nightingale." He said before he went running in the direction of his screams.
"Oracle." Batman growled into the comms. The sound of his breathing intensifies as he ran faster.
"I'm on it!"
Black Bat let out a chuff and then a low rumble.
Robin checked his gps for Black Bats location. "I'm three minutes from you."
"I'm on my way BB!!! I have eight minutes!!!" Nightwing yelled excitedly.
"Eta seven minutes." Batman said.
"I have fourteen minutes til I get there." Red Robin replied.
"Six minutes." Red Hood spoke.
"I see him! Robin, do be careful. Try not to scare him and definitely don't attack him." Oracle reminded him. " He's at one of Two Faces old warehouses on Gardner Street."
Robin couldn't help the eye roll he did at her words. "You know something? I am completely astounded at the miraculous and complete utter trust that I am no longer the feral ten year old that my sadistic psychotic mother dropped off on Batman's doorstep. It is not like it has not been nine years since then. Nine years of constant badgering, reconditioning, training, scolding, lectures, 'justice not revenge', 'bats do not kill', therapy, being benched or even being sent to the titans." Robin growled angrily. " Oh yes, those nine fucking years absolutely counted for nothing. But if it makes the whole lot of you feel better, I swear to not spook or attack him."
The silence from the comms told him all he needed to know. " Thank you for nothing."
Robin approached Black Bats location silently, using the training his mother had drilled into him. He caught Black Bats silhouette in his peripheral vision.
The sound of brick and steel being destroyed, angry yells and heartbroken cries filled the air around him.
