It was a clear starry, moonless night when Anemone finally made it home. It was a humble looking one story building which didn't seem to be in the best of conditions as could be seen from the apparent peeling off paint. That grey paint that was getting washed down.
She opened the door and walked in. She then began taking off her shoes. The house was as dark as it was quiet, absolutely lifeless, packing an eerie atmosphere. Her right bracelet began glowing, a bright green before it broke to pieces. It formed a total of ten pieces, which were enough to illuminate the room.
On the kitchen stand beside her, she noticed a white envelope. As she was curious, she picked it up and the note that was attached to it. "Anemone, please come home."
There is no way that can ever happen.....I don't think it ever could.
......
"You can't join those so called knight people. Why are you so obsessed with this? If you really want it that badly, then get out! I don't want to nature a corpse." She exclaimed as I could hear the subtle quiver in her voice.
When I heard those words, I only wondered why she was being that irrational. If all she wanted was to kick me out, she shouldn't have bothered ridiculing me and just flat out said it. I hated how she always talked down on my only reason for living. It was the only thing you asked of me even after you lost so much to it.
"You are actually leaving _ sit down!"
I had enough, "Listen, I don't care what you do with your life so don't tell me what to do with mine!" I felt the tears roll down my face as it was hard to breathe. My throat hurt from the frustration, "I will make it happen.....No matter what_ I will become one of them."
........
After what happened, there is no way I can ever go back there. She never opened the envelope to get a look inside before she threw it away. Out the window.
She began walking through the silent passage way, her footsteps and heart being the only noise that she could hear echoing through out the room. Any sound would be enough to scare anyone with a place as secluded as it was.
She continued walking until she had made it to the end of the hall. She opened door before saying, "I am home." She was back in her room again.
The walls in her room were covered by shelves with a desk being positioned next to her bed. She went and pulled a box from underneath her bed. She opened it metal top, sliding it to reveal what was in side. In the box was a black leather book which had silver lock on it.
I can finally open it, she thought as she took hold of the necklace. When she tried to take it off, she noticed something odd. It wouldn't come off. She couldn't remove it from over her head and neither could she untie it.
Seeing that it was impossible to take off because of the reinforced material it was made of, she moved closer to the book and inserted half the star in the key hole. It pressed on it and the silver lock opened. So only two vertices were needed to unlock. That seems way too convenient. She then proceeded to open the book..
"The projection didn't give much information except the next step. Its like, we will only know more as we go. I hope there is a lot of good info in the book he left me."
.......
'The guardian of wind;
The knight trial is a definite system of selection with magic potential as its most defining factor. It is impossible to apply to become a knight and I am glad to see that you made it. To many who get chosen, they believe that it is a random system but it couldn't be more defined.
If you opened it immediately after your first trial....then I will warn you in advance _ the natural selection has only just began. It will only get worse from here.
I wonder how old you are when you have finally made it, I mean I was able to join when I was nineteen years old. Yeah, I know I was young...if you are much older than that, don't beat yourself up.' Its a shame.....I am actually way younger than he was _I should be turning sixteen later this year. She thought before she continued reading.
'Alright I almost forgot about the only advice I can give you right now.... whatever powers you might have right now aren't anything special so you need to hurry and understand what it means to truly be powerful. You will meet people or things that you can't even comprehend yet, you have to contend with.
Also, what forms of magic do you know right now? I am probably guessing that you already know spiritual magic or non physical magic since you always had an affinity for that. I am just hoping that you didn't ignore physical magic. Spiritual magic might be good but it can't deal physical damage...it can only harm the spiritual aspect of the world.
Physical magic is more practical so you should probably learn that.' "Its a shame you said everything as though you would be here....its like you understood that you were going to die. You don't have to worry I learned physical magic too....it might have been a little hard to pull off but its the one I use the most now."
'I am pretty sure you haven't learnt divine magic yet, as it is the hardest form of magic but if you have the other two down, you should learn it soon. Also, have you learned crystalis yet?' "Crystalis? What's that ?"
'Remember, to the acceptance system....power is the prime factor...everything else is secondary. If you don't mind, I would like it if you didn't read past this point until you could answer a certain question of mine.....what do you think it means to be the true vessel? That was something I wanted to know.'
.......
She closed the book as she thought, I will respect your wishes....I am just wondering how you and mom's minds worked. Everything you ask of me just seems to fit into each other perfectly.
When she got on her feet, she picked up the book. As soon as she did, a piece of paper fell from it. "What's that," the half of the necklace began glowing blue before it changed completely to black. She removed it from the lock. The darker shade only grew deeper. The halved vertex then cracked before it reverted back to its golden appearance. Kano.
......
Kano was trapped in the dark void once more busy wondering aimlessly. This time, the water level had risen and it was covering all the way up to his waist. He dragged himself through the cold icy water before he had a strong headache. A memory that came to mind was of that rainy day.
.......
"Can living like this really be considered a gift?" You asked me as you desperately tried to get accustomed to existing in that child's pitiful form. The rain hadn't stopped and I watched you continuously struggle to learn how to walk.
"I suppose it does....because_ apparently, living in itself is its own gift," I replied as I gazed upon the innocence that was slowly returning to those traumatized eyes which were once hollowed by what they saw. You chose to stay with me as you had become a part of me.....a part of my long and exhausting journey.
......
When he opened his eyes, he saw a very familiar ceiling. Its white and slightly browned paint was something that he could not mistake for anything. I am back in my room again. He sighed as he sat up. He looked at his desk when he noticed Calida who fell asleep while seated on the chair. She was resting on her table.
As soon as he smiled, he felt a sharp headache, it was as though he was being pierced by needles, all of them through his ears.
His left arm began emanating a black aura. Reflexively, he grabbed hold of it with his right hand before he bit his right arm. He was trying desperately to prevent himself from screaming from the pain he felt.
A blue aura began leaking out of his left arm and he felt as though his flesh was being torn off his bone. From the severe pain, his teeth dug into his flesh resulting in blood dripping from his right arm. His teeth sank further as the pain only grew. He closed his eyes as he felt himself slipping, he couldn't hold it in anymore.
When he opened his eyes, he was standing in the dark void once more. The cold had only grown as the water was rippling. When he looked to the sky, he saw that the horizon was cracked...beyond it was an even greater darkness. His eyes widened as a black fog began emanating from them. All traces of pain he felt had disappeared. "The line has began to blur already. Huh."
His surroundings suddenly reverted to his room again. His once black eyes were completely dyed to black. The aura that was emanating from his arm had disappeared.
With his left hand, he covered his bite wound. After what I just felt, I am even wondering how it can still work this normally.
He headed towards the door and was prepared to walk out when he heard her say, "You do realize that it is a pain when you walk out without saying anything, right? I mean, how else should I know where you are going."
He turned to face her as he said, "Sorry, I didn't want to wake you." He then flashed her a fake smile.
"Its fine if you wake me....you should also make sure to carry the water bottles ....I filled them with water. There on the kitchen stand," she yawned before she closed her eyes again, "I am going back to sleep. "
"Okay_ make sure to have a good night's rest," he said as he smiled...genuinely this time.
"What are you saying? Its morning. " she chuckled.
"Its night now....at least for you." He said as he left the room. He closed the door from behind him. "Its high time I got going."
......
He calmly walked through the forest, the sound of his footsteps echoing across his mind. He walked towards the banks of the river until he arrived at his favorite hunting spot.
There_ he saw two antelopes which were caught in his trap. Their cloven hooves were trapped by metal clamps that were held in place by the earth. He stared at them for a while before he continued walking. He was hoping to rendezvous with Anemone so he headed straight for the place where the life and death battle took place.
When he arrived, he saw her seated on the log watching the sunrise, which was odd considering the fact that it was nine in the morning. Her forehead was bandaged up. She looked towards him. She then proceeded to raise her right arm.
A total of ten pieces, each coming from different directions, converged and began rotating around it. They reattached themselves to each other and formed her bracelet.
"Hey Kano, you are late....." she said as she stood up.
"Maybe you are just too early...."
"Yeah...like nine is early..." she said as she smiled.
"I guess you are right."
She stared at him as she said, "Kano....two men walk to the fields, they get separated and get lost in someone's farm. They both try to search for each other when one of them finds the harvest. So he takes it and try to find a way of escaping.
So the other gets caught in his place before fights tooth and nail and escapes and continues running away, he was searching for the friend so that they could get out. When he finds him, the friend, having the stolen harvest, sees him from a distance running towards him.
He panicked and began running away with the stolen harvest in tow . He lost his footing and fell into a sty. He was completely covered in dung...he tried to get up but then slipped and fell. So his friend catches up to him and starts laughing when the farmer shows up. The farmer sees the friend laughing at him and assumes otherwise and decides to catch the one laughing as he was the one standing next to the stolen harvest. The one who was in a sty was then given a reward."
"Poor guy.....he never got backed up by his friend. "
"How come you aren't laughing.....I actually did really well."
"That was supposed to be a joke," he said as he tried to shrug off the look he was being given.
She had a perplexed look when she said, "I actually thought the irony would be laugh worthy."
He chuckled as he said, "That was more pathetic than anything I have ever heard. At least you won worst joke."
"You are perfectly normal if you can laugh like that." According to what I read yester night after I saw the necklace crack, most dark attribute users are hollow to emotion. If he can still laugh then he must still be normal right?
"What did you think I was?" He asked.
"Kano......I have a favor to ask of you? Can I?"
"What's up?"
Her bracelets began glowing green as she said, "I want you to fight me....don't hold anything back," I want to test out my theory on prime visualization. I have to try it on someone I don't think I can beat.
"Well," as he was about to give his answer, a gust of wind blasted him forcing him to the ground. As he was falling, his eyes changed to blue before he crushed into the ground.
"What the hell is her problem..." he got back to his feet as he held his right arm. Particularly, the bite wound.
"If this is what you want...." A blue aura began emanating from his body. He ducked to dodge the blade aimed at his chest. A massive gust of wind forced the sand to rise forming a sand cloud which doubled as a smoke screen.
He held two fingers on his left arm before he shot a water bullet where she originally stood. As soon as he shot it, he was met by a 360° kick from his left. He crashed into the ground. She jumped on him aiming for a jab when he held up his left palm aiming to block.
She withdrew her hand as she jumped away from him, I can't let him touch me with that hand. One touch and that might be all for me.
He got back to his feet before he proceeded to dust his clothes. "I am starting to feel cold again. " Anemone directed three of her blades towards him. When they got close, he kicked the blunt side of one of them before catching the other two between his fingers. Each blade in one hand. He then threw them away.
He looked at his hands as he thought, What happened last night....unlike yesterday, my body feels stable....its like every has started mixing. Though the cold is a bit more intense in my chest.
He dashed towards her and went for a tornado kick before spinning through and going for a sweeper that knocked her off her feet. He jumped going for a jab when she rolled out of the way. His right fist met the earth before he aimed two fingers from his right hand at her. water bullets. he thought as he shot three successive shots..
Four of her blades flew in for the of her and blocked them. "Now, Water art: Water bullet." A giant sphere formed in front of his fingers.
When the sphere was released, she opened both her hands and put them forward as she thought, Prime Visualization: Wind art; distortion.
