A/n: this will have two or more than two parts because I have so many things that I want to write for mahirat.

Virat was going through the photo gallery. So may photos. Really memorable moments. And as he was scrolling his eyes fell on one particular photo. Of him and mahi bhai.

He remembered this moment

He remembered this moment. How it had barely just been an over for mahi bhai and he had hit a gigantic six to starc. Virat wasn't able to stop laughing after that six. And he remembered how he had said "nice shot" to mahi bhai who just gave a cheeky grin. Well it wouldn't be mahi bhai if he had reacted any more than that.

And as he passed through more photos and came across more photos of him and mahi bhai, he started to remember their old day. Those really really beautiful days.

When he was a youngster and had just come to the team, unsure about his place and future, it was mahi bhai who had helped him. Protected him from the pranks played by some of his senior players and the media. Provided a safe environment and assured that he would get deserved chances.

He started to remember the time selectors were behind virat trying to force him to control his aggression because "it was not gentlemen like" in their own words. They had called him in a meeting with mahi bhai and one of them said "if you don't control your aggression, you will be removed from vice captaincy. People are complaining, media are complaining, we can't go on like this."

And that was the first time virat had seen mahi bhai so angry.
"What do you mean people are complaining and media are complaining?" Mahi bhai had shouted angrily making all the selectors look at each other shocked. So virat had concluded that this was the first time they had also seen mahi bhai so angry.

"Are we playing for them? Is he playing for them?" He continued.
"No, right? He is playing for his country! Then why would he control his aggression? If the players of other teams come and sledge our team, then he has full right to sledge them as long as he follows the rules and doesn't go overboard. It is his style and he will stick to it if he wants to. And if you remove him from vice captaincy, I will resign as captain." Was the ultimatum mahi bhai had given and left from the meeting signalling virat to follow him.

Virat didn't know if he should say something or not as he had never seen mahi bhai so angry and even though he was aware that it was not on him but the selectors, he was still scared.

"If you want to say something, you can say. I won't eat you." Mahi bhai had joked and vi was amazed at how quickly his voice had gone from angry to calm and he was even joking.

But more amaze he was at the fact that mahi bhai knew that he wanted to say something.
"How did you.."
Before he could even complete the sentence, mahi smiled and said "you were staring at me from a long time, of course I would know."

"Thank you for standing for me, bhai." Vi said.
"Don't thank me. As a captain it's my responsibility to stand for my teammate." Mahi bhai had said.

"Just a teammate?" Virat frowned.
Mahi looked at him and chuckled. "No, cheeku. Let me rephrase that. It's my responsibility to stand up for my brother. No matter how annoying and irritating he might be sometimes."
