"Easy. Easy."
"Good boy Whiskey." As I got onto his back for the first time since I rescued him. Whiskey isn't that old of a horse. About two. Someone found him on the side of a road torn up from the barbed wire. You could see his ribs. His face bones. He looked like a wolf attacked him.
"That's a good boy". "No one is going to hurt you". *kiss* "come on babe". "Let's go". As I pushed the gelding into a walk my mother came up to the fence. "Hey honey someone is on the phone for you!" "Ugh". "Really mom, I was so close!" "Who is it?!" "I don't know, just take it". "Fine". "Hello".
"Yes hi, is this Courtney Bailer?"
"Yes it is, how may I help you".
All of a sudden her voice got very mean and deep.
"I believe you have my horse, he's a red bay with a star and stands at about 15 hands".
*silence*
"Um yes, yes I do, one of my friends found him on the side of the road, he had been abused".
"Oh that's silly, he had escaped and..."
"May I ask who this is!?"
"Miranda Shay."
"Oh. My. God. Miranda!?, You abused your horse!?"
"No no I did not".
"Oh really".
"Wait are you the girl that is always looking at my boyfriend!?"
"For the record I don't look at him!"
"Ugh you pig, I'm coming to pick up my horse!"
"I don....".
And the line went dead. (CUSSING) that bitch she can't take him! She fucking abused him!
When I turn around to face Whiskey he's look at me. Wondering what just happened. He had that look in his eyes saying "don't let her take me".
I walk up to him and plant a kiss on his nose. "I promise boy..i won't".
