"So here it is, hunny, Santa Carla." My mother says. Not gonna lie. This place seemed nice till I saw how people acted, but the surroundings are beautiful.
"This place seems cool!" I exclaimed. We drove through town as I witnessed new faces, new shops I'd never seen before. As we drove up the hill, which was to my grandfathers house, I saw my brothers running outside and to the car. I was greeted with them pulling me into the biggest bone breaking hug. I have no idea why, but we all started crying. They led me inside, showing me around but one room I couldn't look at since Grandpa said it was off limits. I was petting and hugging Nanook until someone spoke up.
"Also,with us being flat broke, there's no Televisi-," Sam said to me before I cut him off.
"NO TV MEANING NO MTV! WHAT THE FUCK!" I yelled as they laughed at me. Mum told me that markets or something are on tonight that she'd take us to cause she's trying to find a job as well downtown.
-time skip to tonight-
As we walk around, mum had left Micky to look after us as she went searching for employment, we join a huge crowd of people watching a guy play with a saxophone. Sam was grabbing Michael's face for some reason, I turn around to see what he was so fascinated about till I see a gorgeous girl.
"Leave him alone, Sammy, let him find a woman." I say as he rolls his eyes, she noticed us and walks off through the crowd. The two of us follow Michael, Sam trying to get him to admit that he was chasing the girl, but he never did, till he stopped us
"Don't you both have something better to do than follow me around." He said in a stern tone, I had only just remembered about the book store and brought it up.
"Sam c'mon, there's a comic book store over here. We could find a batman 14!" I say as his face lights up with excitement as I wink at micky to go find that girl. I follow Sammy into the book store and see to guys our age stare us down as we search through the place. I gently clung onto my brothers shirt as I was getting a bit creeped out. He got the message,
"Got a problem, guys?" He asks as a guy with a bandana responds.
"Just seeing the outfits you guys have." As he looks me up and down, not even hardly looking at Sam.
"Pretty cool, huh?" I say.
"Listen, man, if you're looking for the diet frozen yogurt bar It went out of business last summer, and if she's looking for the strip club, it's only around the corner." He said quite rudly.
"Thats fucking rude, Sam, Do I really look that much like a prostitute?" I asked Sam but bandana boy took advantage of that and walked closer, practically breathing on me.
"Doll, boys will come at you if u keep wearing stuff like that." He pulled my chin up with a curled finger(idk what you call it😅), making me stare directly into his eyes. Have to say he's really hot just looking at him, his voice, even his clothing style. My brother ruined the moment, tugging me away.
"Get off my sister man!" He yelled. The guy just rolled his eyes.
"By the way, im y/n and this is my brother, Sam." I say
"Im Edgar, and this is Alan." Edgar replies. Even his name sounds fine. (cunt what am i writing😭) Good to know their names than call them bandana boy and brother.
"We are actually looking for a batman number 14." He says
"That a very serious comic man." Edgar said as his brother spoke up also. "Only five in existence."
"Four actually, our mum and us are always looking out for the other 3." I say to be greeted with a bit of shock on the guys faces.
"You read comic?" Alan asked.
"Just because I'm a girl don't mean shit bud." I rudely say. Sam then started babbling on about how a superman 77 was with the 200s and 98s with the 300s. God he was being so irritating I kicked him to shut him up.
"Where the hell are you from, krypton?" Edgar asked.
"Phoenix actually, but lucky us we moved here." Sam says, Edgar then rubbed onto me trying to reach behind and I only just noticed how good he smell. The comic he grabbed reading 'vampires everywhere!' on the front cover was put into my hands by him.
"Read this."
"I don't like horror comics." I attempted handing it back but he pushed it back toward me.
"You'll like this one lovely." He winked at me, is he for real? Edgar leaned toward me again." It might just save your life." All of a sudden, some random people just stole some comics from out the front.
"HEY!" They both screamed before running off.
After tehy ran off we went and found Michael who was still looking for the girl, we found him but when we managed to the brown-haired girl was hoping on a blonde guys bike.
"Cmon, she stiffed ya!" Sam laughed, the guy and his gang drove off as we walked back to mum in the video store with us then going home

The next day Sam dragged me outside since grandpa said he'd take us to town in his car. But he didn't.
Me and Sam still went walked back downtown to go to the comic bookstore again. Edgar and Alan had just come up to us again.
"Notice anything unusual about Santa Carla yet?" Alan asked
"Ill i heard was this is the murder capital" Sam said. Wait what the fuck, murder capital?!
"Not really, its actually a pretty cool place." I exclaimed." If ur a Martian." I laughed.
"Or a vampire." Edgar says. Sam gave a look of 'what a good joke'
"You really think you know what's going on don't you?" He said. "Well ill tell you's something, you don't know shit."
"Yeah, you think we just work at a comic book store for our folks huh." Alan said.
"Actually when i first came across it i thought it was a bakery." I said sarcastically. The walked up to us, with another comic in his hands.
"This is just our cover, were dedicated to a different purpose. Were fighters for truth, justice and the American way." All i reply with is alright. Edgar handed me another comic saying 'destroy all vampires'
" I told you i don't like horror comics, the one you gave me is sitting in my room."
Alan then got in my face." Think of it more as a survival manual." Edgar then says "Numbers on the back and prey you don't have to call."
"Ill prey ill never need to call you." My brother had already walked off at this poin and before i leave the store i said bravely to Edgar. "Might call you for something else but." I winked and walked off catching up with my brother.
