My Second Chance at Happiness

Chapter 5

The plane ride was absolutely horrid. Don't get me wrong the service was excellent and the seats were extremely comfortable, but it made me so nauseous. Jennifer said that it's actually quite common. Which made me feel better.

We're now just getting ready to exit the plane and there are people lined up and cameras ready which makes me nervous.

The doors open and of course my sister is first to get off. I slowly come out last and immediately get blinded by the light having to cover my eyes. Once my eyes adjust I see there are thousands of people lined up watching us. Everyone has signs and are cheering calling out our names. I hear a little girl to my right call my name and I walk over to her.

"Hey, what's your name?" I asked the little girl.

"Jasmine, I wanted to know if I could have your autograph please?" she asked hesitantly.

"Of course" I said grabbing the pen and paper from her hand. Signing my name quickly and giving it back to her.

"Thank you so much! You're my absolute favorite. I hope you win, you would make such a beautiful queen." she said.

"Thank you" I said shocked not knowing what else to say I walked away.

Do people really think I could be queen? Can I actually win this thing?

I walked into the building and saw a whole bunch of other girls sat around the foyer. Theh immediately turned to look at us once we walked in.

"Oh you're here. Have a seat and Alpha Cody will come in a few minutes." A lady wearing all black came over and told us.

I decided to sit in a secluded seat in the corner. I didn't want to mingle with these girls just yet. It seemed we were the last ones here and they were waiting for us to arrive.

Alpha Cody walked down the stairs and you could actually see some of these girls swoon. I looked up and immediately made eye contact with him but he looked away quickly making me confused.

Was the chemistry between us all in my head? Maybe I was no better than the rest of these girls. But I kissed him, didn't that mean something. I was so confused.

By the time I realized what was going the rest of the girls were gone and the only person left was Alpha Cody. I missed his whole speech.

"Hey..." I said hesitantly, breaking the silence.

"You didn't hear anything I just said" He said.

"No I didn't. I'm sorry" I replied bashfully.

"I said you may walk up the stairs and find your rooms, which have your name placed on the door. Dinner is at 6." He said to me coldly

I was extremely confused and muttered an okay. I turned away and started walking up the stairs and looked back at him staring at me.

"Next time listen when i'm talking and you won't be so lost." He commented and immediately walked away.

Slightly embarrassed and a little angry I walked up the rest of the stairs. Why does he can think he can treat me in such a way. Obviously that kiss didn't mean anything to him.

Seeing a door with my name on it I walked in just wanting to take a quick nap before dinner. There standing in the middle of my room was a Jennifer my assistant and another lady.

"Took you awhile to get here, but anyway this is Kelly she will be yoir maid and will attend to any of your needs." She said walking out swiftly.

"Hello Ms. Howell would you like to start getting ready for dinner now?" She asked.

"What time is it?" I asked

"5:00, you have about an hour until dinner." She said ruining my plans of taking a nap.

"Could I take a quick bath? I'm still a bit jet lagged." I asked hopefully.

"Oh yes of course. I'll draw one for you right away." She said hurriedly walking towards what I assumed was the bathroom.

Finally being able to take in the room for the first time, there was a huge bed set in the middle of the room. I immediately ran over and jumped on the bed. The walls were a beige color and another door on the other side of the room. I walked over to it and opened the door. There was dresses of every kind surrounding the closest. I walked in and saw a small dresser full of fine jewelry that must have cost a fortune.

"Miss your bath is ready." Kelly said walking out of the bath.

"Okay thank you." I said walking out of the closet and into the bathroom.

The bathroom was huge! There was a huge bath filled with water and bubbles which had a sweet scent coming out. I quickly took off my clothes and got into the bath. I sighed slightly when I got fully into the water. I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Opening my eyes some time later I finally looked at the clock and realized it was already 5:30. Hurriedly getting out of the bath and putting my robe on I walked back into my room. I saw my maid finishing putting some clothes on my dress which was a beautiful dark blue evening dress.

"I thought this dress would bring out your eyes and would go great with your dark brown hair." She said to me handing me the dress.

"Thank you the dress is beautiful." I said grabbing the dress and walking into the bathroom again.

I put on the dress and loomed into the mirror and was awestruck. The dressed matched my eyes perfectly and hugged to my every curves. I walked back into my room finding Kelly in the closet.

"You look absolutely lovely." She said turning around to look at me.

"Thank you. You have good taste." I said.

"Well I thought you would like to pick your own jewelry so i'll just get out of your way." She said walking out of the closet.

I walked over to the dresser and opened it once more. Not wanting to be to flashy I decided to go with a diamond necklace and matching studs.

I walked out after putting them on and Kelly put my hair into a sophisticated updo and put on some light make up. After it was all finished I went to go look at myself in the mirror. I looked so different but it was still me. I absolutely loved it.

"Thank you so much! I don't know what I would do without you." I said turning back to Kelly.

"It was nothing. But you really need to get going. The dining hall is downstairs on your right. You can't miss it." She said looking at the time and ushering me out.

I walked out and down the stairs and took the first right. There I saw huge double doors with low music coming through and I knew this was it. I grabbed the door and braced myself and opened the door.
