As the days dragged on, Y/n sighed, weary from the constant check-ups by the doctors and the stories Soap would tell her about mission mishaps and funny moments. The whole recovery process felt dull and tedious to her - she was tired of being confined to a bed, constantly needing assistance. It truly sucked, but over time, the boredom had become overwhelming.

A knock at the door jolted Y/n from her thoughts, and she looked over to see Soap and Gaz entering the room. "Y/n, you awake?" Gaz spoke softly.

"Yeah, I'm awake. What's up, guys?" Y/n responded, sitting up in her bed, her tired eyes meeting theirs.

"Well, we wanted to check on you. The others are out on a mission, and it's pretty quiet around here," Soap said, sinking into the chair beside her bed. His own eyes looked weary.

"Soap's been stuck doing paperwork for hours on end, and it's getting a bit boring," Gaz added, handing Y/n a tray of food. Y/n's eyes widened as her stomach let out a hungry growl.

"Oh my god, this looks amazing! They've been feeding me bland crap since I got back," she said, eagerly digging into the meal.

Gaz chuckled, giving her arm a light punch. "Well, the good news is you're free to go soon, so we figured we'd bring you something nice."

Y/n looked up from her food, a grateful smile spreading across her face. "You guys are the best. I can't wait to get out of this place."

Y/n groaned in frustration as she shifted on the stiff infirmary bed. "God, I can't wait to get out of here and take a real shower," she muttered, eyeing the harsh fluorescent lights overhead with disdain. "I'm so tired of just sitting around, doing nothing but staring at these damn pale walls."

She sat up abruptly, wincing slightly at the movement. "Well, what are we waiting for? I'm ready to get the hell out of this place." Y/n glanced around the room expectantly, her gaze settling on the doctor who had been monitoring her condition. "So, when can I bust out of this joint?"

The doctor approached the bed, a clipboard in hand. "Take it easy there, Y/n. I know you're eager to get back on your feet, but you've been through a lot. We need to make sure you're fully healed before discharging you."

Y/n let out an exasperated sigh. "Come on, doc. I feel fine. A little rest and relaxation is all I need. And trust me, there's nothing more relaxing than a hot shower and my own bed." She flashed the doctor a pleading look. "Please, just give me the green light. I promise I'll take it easy once I'm out of here."

The doctor considered her request for a moment, then nodded slowly. "Alright, Y/n. I'll sign off on your discharge, but I want you to take it easy for the next few days, okay? No strenuous activity, and make sure you get plenty of rest."

Y/n's face lit up with a triumphant grin. "You got it, doc. Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She swung her legs over the side of the bed, eager to finally escape the confines of the infirmary. "Believe me, the only thing I plan on doing is soaking in a tub and sleeping for the next 24 hours."

Soap and Gaz stood by the bed, their faces etched with concern as they watched Y/N slowly slide out of the stiff mattress. The doctor had given her the official green light, and she steadied herself on her feet, her movements cautious but determined.

"Thanks again for coming by, you guys," Y/N said, her voice soft but sincere as she accepted the loose, comfortable clothing Soap handed her. Soap's rugged features were creased in a gentle smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Beside him, Gaz's tanned face held a similar expression, his broad shoulders relaxed as he observed their friend's progress.

"Of course, we weren't going to leave you here alone," Gaz replied, his deep voice rumbling with warmth. He reached out to steady Y/N as she began to change, mindful of her still-healing injuries.

Soap nodded in agreement, his calloused fingers brushing against Y/N's arm as he helped guide the oversized shirt over her head. "You've been through hell. The least we could do is make sure you get back on your feet," he said, his usual gruff demeanor softened by genuine concern.

Y/N flashed them a grateful smile, touched by their unwavering support. As she slipped into the loose-fitting pants, she couldn't help but feel a surge of relief and comfort, knowing that her closest friends were by her side during this difficult recovery.

Soap frowned slightly as he looked over at Y/n. "Well, it's not like this is my first time going through hell on a mission. You were pretty banged up too, but you got out of here faster than I did on my first time." He paused, his thick Scottish accent more pronounced. "To be honest, we were all worried since it was your first time. Missions are never easy - they're always a living hell. But in 141, we always come back with some kind of injury, you know."

Y/n laughed softly, turning her head to look at both Soap and Gaz. "Well, you guys have definitely kept me from going insane in this place," she said quietly.

As they left the infirmary, Soap and Gaz exchanged a glance, both trying to keep the mood light. "Aye, can't have our newest recruit losing it on us now, can we?" Soap said with a grin, bumping Y/n's shoulder playfully as they walked. Gaz chuckled, "Yeah, we need you in one piece if you're going to keep up with the rest of us, yeah?"

Y/n sighed, "Keeping up with you two is hard, you know. I'm still just a recruit, and sometimes it feels like I'm babysitting you both." She glanced over at Soap and Gaz as she made her way to her room.

Soap chuckled, "Hey, we're not that bad. We're just...enthusiastic."

Gaz snorted. "Speak for yourself, mate. Y/n's right, we can be a handful sometimes."

Y/n shook her head, "That's an understatement. But I wouldn't have it any other way." She smiled fondly at the two seasoned veterans. "You guys keep me on my toes, that's for sure."

"And don't you forget it," Soap said with a wink. The trio shared a laugh as they continued on their way.
