"JULIA!" My mom yelled for what seemed to be the thousandth time that morning.
"What?" I groggily answered.
"You have to get up. You're going to be late for your first day of school," she said.
Today was the first day of my senior year. I did not, absolutely did not want to go back to that prison. the only thing good about it was that I got to see my friends again. Walking down stairs was probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
"I made your favorite for breakfast! Nutella pancakes!" My mom said excitedly.
"Yay," I said sarcastically, "now I can get fat."
"Honey, stop talking bad about yourself."
"Sorry mom," I whined, not really meaning it.
"Mom, I got all of my supplies in my backpack and I'm ready to go," my 8 year old brother, Jason, stated.
"Child, you don't have to leave for another hour. So please go sit on the couch or something until we go because if you are this cheery I might jump out of a window." I said with a fake smile.
He rolled his eyes and walked away. Thank God, I thought, I really did not like seeing people this happy in the morning. Especially since it was about school.
After I was done eating, I went back to my room and got dressed. I wore a marron sweater and leggings, since it was pretty chilly in Minnesota, where I live, obviously. I was really debating on whether or not I should go back to bed, but I didn't want to get yelled at again. I quickly pulled my hair back into a ponytail. It was the easiest thing to do, since my hair was straight. I also quickly brushed my teeth. I went downstairs yet again( I was really tired of climbing those damn stairs.) to find my mom telling me to hurry up. I quickly made a PB&J, picked up my bookbag, and got into my moms car. Yes, it took me an hour to do all of that.
"Did you seriously pull up your hair for the first day of school? It looks like a rats nest." Jason said.
"Well I honestly don't give a shit what I look like. There isn't anyone to impress at that shitty school anyway."
"Hey, language." my mother said, getting mad.
"Sorry mom, but it's the truth." I turned up the radio so no one could respond.
We dropped my brother off first, and then drove to my boring high school.
"Have a good day," my mom said as I got out of the car.
"I doubt that I will," I answered, and walked away.
When I got inside everyone was happy for some reason. I don't understand why though. I walked down the hall to my locker, where I saw my best friend. That cheered me up only a little. I still felt dead from waking up at 6 am.
"JULIA," she said.
"EMMA"
"I can't believe that we are now juniors."
"Yeah, one more year of hell after this" I said and she laughed.
"What do you have first period?" She asked.
"History," which was actually my favorite subject.
"I have stupid chemistry. I don't know how to function at this time of the morning, so how the hell am I going to go to chem."
The bell rang before I could respond, so I just said,"See you later."
I went to math and saw a few familiar faces.
"Hey Julia," a girl named Izzy said
"Hey," I responded. I then sat down next to her.
"Hello class. I'm Mr. Smith, and I will be your history teacher this year," obviously, I thought," So this year I plan to do a lot of fun things with you." Mr Smith kept talking but I didn't really listen.
After history I had Spanish, which I was not very good at. After Spanish is Biology, and after that I have free.
Free is my favorite period or should I say was, because I used to have it with Emma. But that changed this year. Emma had free 5th period so now I wouldn't have anyone to talk to. I slowly walked into the lunchroom, looking for a place to eat my PB&J. I saw an almost empty table with my me other kid sitting there. I had never noticed him before. He had dark brown hair and bright, but cold blue eyes. Tragic.
"Hey, mind if I sit here." I said to him. He looked kind of mysterious.
"Go ahead." he said glancing up at me.
"Thanks," I responded, and sat down "I'm Julia."
"And I really don't care."
"Well that's nice of you" We ate the rest of our lunch in silence.
The period after lunch was English, which sucked. I didn't hate english, it's just that I hate the teacher. All she talks about is how her daughter in eighth grade is better than us.
I was one of the first ones in the class, so I took a seat in the second to last row. I didn't want to be that rude and sit in the corner, so I decided to sit there. I started unpacking my books when someone sat down next to me. I looked up to see who it was.
"Ugh, you again," I rolled my eyes, "I don't understand why you had to sit next to me."
"Hm maybe it was just so I could be a dick to you." he said with a wink. I faked smiled. This kid was on my nerves.
"Alright students, if you didn't already notice, we have a new student joining us. His name is Koda. I hope you all can get along with him and help him if he needs anything." Mrs. Fatel said.
"It's fine,"Koda announced to the class," I think I'll be fine. He looked over at me again so I just rolled my eyes. Mrs. Fatel started talking about what her kids did over the summer so I zoned out of that class, yet again.
The rest of my classes went by like a breeze and I was finally out of hell. At least for today. Wow I really wasn't ready to wake up at 6 am for 180 days.
