As you pick up the last box you have in your childhood home. You think to yourself, "Why can't we just stay here?" And then you reminded yourself. Your mom got a promotion at work, and moving would be the best for your situation here in Denver.
As you put the last box in the Uhaul, you took a long gaze at your home. The chipped blue paint that was from years ago, falling off the shutters. Your old bedroom window, where you would climb out of to go onto the roof to stargaze at night. The front door was heavy each time you came home from school. But you kept your head up and thought about the new house mom has picked out for both of you to live in. As you walked up to the Uhaul truck to sit in the cab, you noticed your mom looking over at the house.

You: "Mom? Are you okay?"

Mom: "Yes baby, I'm just sad that we have to leave this place behind."

As she turns the key to start the truck, you look over at the house one last time. You thought of all the happy memories that you have made with your family and all of the worst ones.

After 29 long hours on the road, you made it to your new home. You were in awe. As you were scrolling through your phone, you kept reading about a new scream coming out soon.

You: "Hey mom, once we get settled into this house, could it be possible that we went to the movies to watch this new movie I want to see?"

Mom: "Depends on how busy I get, but most likely we can. Is it another Scream movie?"

You: "...Maybe..."

*Mom, let's out a chuckle*

Mom: "I knew it! You love that ghastface kid so much-loved"

You: "Mom, his name isn't ghastface. It's ghostface, like a ghost, you know?"

Mom: "Well, now I know. Enough of us chatting away the day, we need to start unpacking. We have a lot to get in and rearrange here."

You: "Yeah, you're right. I want to go to bed soon."

Once you and your mom put all of the boxes in the house, you two start to place everything that makes it look like a home. You finally walked to your room and lying on bed while on your back. Looking at your ceiling, you fell asleep.

A couple of days have gone by, and you have decorated your room the way you've always wanted. Putting posters up of the bands you like, putting your books and figures on your shelf. Put your clothes away in your closet. Leaving out your favorite hoodie of your dad's on your chair, next to your desk. As you step back to admire your work, you hear your mom from the living room

Mom: "Y/N, Could you come here for a second, I have something for you!"

Walking nervously, you walked into the living room, and your mom is holding out a black kitten with a green collar and a name tag that read, "Soot."

You: "Oh. My. God. MOM! YOU KNEW I ALWAYS WANTED A BLACK CAT!"

Your mom hands you the kitten with a big grin on her face. You looked at the kitten and thought to yourself, "This is a sign of a new start in life."
