"What's wrong, you seem grumpy?"
"Nothing!" snapped Austin. What was his problem? Two can play at this game, I can be grumpy and mean too. "Chill, I just wanted to make sure you were okay?" I snapped back. "I'm fine" he snapped. "Then why are you yelling at me?!" I yelled back. "Cause you keep asking what's wrong with me?!" he shouted. "Well what is it?" I asked. "Nothing!" he yelled. "Then why are you so snappy?" "Cause you won't leave me ALONE!" he screamed.
"Guys, calm down! You're making a scene" snapped Jacob. "You calm down" we both snapped at Jacob, but looked down at our lunches anyway. I peeked out from under my bangs at the surrounding tables. Sure enough, everyone was looking at us, whispering. I don't know when it became like this.
It seems me and Austin can barely go ten minutes without being at each other's throats. We used to get along fine, but now it was bad. And I can't talk to other people, I'm too shy. I glanced at Austin out of the corner of my eye. He was talking to Jacob about something, though I had no idea what. I was to busy looking at Austin. I looked at his eyes, I loved his eyes.
They were blue and had those interesting swirls and rings. And in case you're wondering why it's such a big deal, my eyes were dull. Incredibly dull. Just flat, brown discs. So I have a thing for pretty eyes. Wait, did I just say his eyes are pretty?
"Ash, stop staring at me" Austin snapped, bringing me back to reality. Geez, he scared me!!! "Would you stop shouting at me?!" I yelled back. "I wasn't yelling!" he shouted. "Well then stop doing whatever you're doing!" I retorted. "I wasn't doing anything!" he answered. "Ugh," I spat, giving up, "forget it." I'll be the bigger person!
"What? I wasn't doing anything!" he continued. "I said 'forget it'!" I snapped. "Forget what?!" he shouted. "NEVERMIND!" I yelled. "Guys!" Jacob shouted. "I'm gonna go" I sighed, getting up. This is driving me crazy!
I walked over to the teacher's table. At first I was going to go outside or something, but then I had an idea. Heading out of the cafeteria, I headed towards the guidance counselor.

"How can I help you, honey?" asked Mrs. Careth. "Well, I've been having trouble with my best friend" I answered, swallowing. "Oh, I see. That's rather common around your age. As you get older, you start to change and it becomes harder to keep in touch with your friends. Have you considered it may be time to end the relationship?" she smiled at me. Was she freaking serious? Just stop being friends?!
"Well, I wouldn't be here if I was okay with us not being friends, ma'am" I said slowly. "Well I guess you wouldn't!!!" she shouted in response. For some reason, Mrs. Careth just thought this was hilarious and burst into tears. Is she retarded? Can a retarded person be a guidance counselor? Finally, her laughing died down.
"Oh honey, you have no idea how many people don't think of just ending the relationship! But it seems you've given this quite a bit of thought..." she trailed off, wiping tears from her eyes. "Well, yeah" I said. This was a bad idea. I should leave. "Um, I'm just gonna go-" I started, but she was already asking me questions.
"Tell me what's going on" she said. Crap. "Well, we're always fighting, and he seems distant" I offered. Well, since I'm already here. "I see. That is indeed a difficult situation. But don't worry, I can have these things fixed in an instant. Now, tell me more about your relationship..."
*******************************************
That was three months ago. And it never got fixed, so I quit going to see Mrs. Careth. I really don't know what to do.
Hey guys. This is a really short chapter to see how you guys like the story. I think it's too short though. This is my first story and I'm just trying it out, seeing if I like it. If you guys would like me to keep posting just comment, I'm not updating regularly yet. Though I may post the next chapter as soon as I can. Have a good day (or night, since I'm partially nocturnal) and comment! :)
