It all happened way too fast.

Screeching tires, blinding lights.
Lisa's muscles worked autonomously when she realized that the speeding car was about to hit her best friend.

She hadn't planned it.
If she had thought about the consequences for even a moment, she would have been rooted to the spot, but her body moved on his own.
Fortunately.

Lisa didn't remember how, but she pushed Chaeyoung out of the way, to safety, and tried to roll to the side.
The next memory was of pure pain as her head hit the hard asphalt, and a crunching sound as her leg went under the vehicle.

Lisa saw Chaeyoung's shocked face and heard her own pained scream before everything went black.

*****

Lisa woke up with absolutely no idea how much time had passed, but she was definitely not on the road anymore.

A sterile smelling, white room.
Different clothes, obviously those of a patient.
And of course all the devices that were connected to her, beeping occasionally.

To be honest, Lisa was surprised that she was still alive. But right now she didn't have the energy to think about it. The overwhelming, stabbing pain surpressed any attempt to think clearly, even though it felt a little duller.

"Lisa.",

a scratchy voice breathed from her side.
Chaeyoung was sitting by the bed, and the dark circles under her eyes were a clear indication that she hadn't slept.
Immediately, Lisa was more worried about her friend than herself, but when she opened her mouth, she couldn't get a word out.

Tears streamed down Chaeyoung's face and she gently reached out to Lisa, but stopped short.

"I thought you were going to die.",

she breathed, before hastily wiping the tears from her face and slowly standing up.

"I'll get a doctor. Stay... try to stay awake, okay?"

Lisa remained silent, and when Chaeyoung was gone, she tried to figure out what had happened.

There had been a car accident because a car had suddenly sped towards the two girls.
Fortunately, Chaeyoung looked relatively unharmed, apart from the obvious rings around her eyes and a bandage on her right hand.

While her best friend was probably fine, Lisa's situation was certainly different.
Both hands were wrapped in bandages and hurt terribly. She found it difficult to breathe, her ribs hurt so badly that it was almost unbearable, but her leg was the worst.
It was a pulsing, stabbing pain that ran through her entire body.
Comnined with the dizziness, Lisa just felt like shit.

She didn't even notice that a doctor had entered.

"Lalisa Manoban, born on 27.03. in Buri Ram, Thailand. Is that correct?"

The doctor looked at her patiently, and Lisa managed to utter an almost soundless yes.

"Very good. Listen to me, Mrs. Manoban. I am aware that it is difficult for you to answer right now, but it is important that we tell you what is wrong with you right from the start."

Lisa tried to nod, but her already aching head began to sting so badly that she decided not to. Fortunately, the doctor continued talking while Chaeyoung slipped back through the door and sat down beside the bed.

"Yesterday morning, you were involved in a car accident when a car drove at high speed towards you and Park Chaeyoung. While Park Chaeyoung only sustained minor injuries, your condition is much more complicated."
