Jeonguk was nervous.
He stood near the stables, waiting for the Seokjoon guy to arrive. He had chosen to wear a baby pink jeogori with matching pants. A glassy hairpin was tucked into his hair which gave him a pretty adorable look. Jeonguk wasn't sure if Seokjoon would like it but he just went with his instincts. Cuz they all said he looked more cute in pink. And he loved pink.
He also carried his little canvas tote bag with a sketch book and a pencil in it.
As the time passed, he started sweating. Not with heat but with fear.
Why hasn't he come? Did he forgot?
As soon as these thoughts came to his mind, a sound of cartwheels rolling on dirt ground was heard behind him. The young boy turned to look over that way and saw Seokjoon perched on one of their small but elegant carts, handling the reigns. He had his hair arranged neatly and the old brown jeogori cleaned. The two horses stepped in lazily before the cart.
Seokjin made a 'hup' noise and the two horses jolted into a stop right in front of Jeonguk. The man jumped down from the seat and faced Jeonguk to have a good look at him.
Seokjin felt butterflies in his stomach once his eyes landed on the beauty in front of him. His chest tightened with some unknown sensation and his jaw dropped an inch.
"W-Wow!" he stuttered, making lord Jeonguk go fully red. "I-I mean just... wow!"
Jeonguk looked down at his shoes with shyness and mumbled a quiet 'thanks'. He gasped a little when a large hand hold his fingers in the most gentle way possible and pressed them into a pair of soft lips.
"You look so pretty my lord." he whispered making Jeonguk's face burn hot.
"Th-Thanks" he stuttered again.
"Are you ready to go?" Seokjin asked.
Jeonguk nodded.
Seokjin lead him towards the carriage and helped him to get into it. After he made sure Jeonguk was comfortable in his seat, he jumped onto the front seat and got a hold on the reigns.
"Okay, we're gonna avoid the main entrance cuz the bodyguards might want to see the approval letter from your father to take you out." Seokjin explained. "So we're gonna take the road around the stables. Where the simple staff head out."
Jeonguk nodded. "What if a guard spots me?"
"Just duck down for a while under the seat. There's enough space. I'll come up with an instant story."
"Okay."
"Okay then, here we go."
Seokjin whipped the reigns and the horses turned back and started to walk back on the same path they came. Jeonguk's body shivered with excitement as he took in a deep breath. The journey just started but it already felt so good. So good to be outside, in a fresh area where he hadn't been before.
The cart rolled on through a muddy path for a while. They were still in the land belonged to the Jeons. Seokjin watched out for guards but none appeared. After a while he led a cart into a gravel road which indicated they were out of the Jeon's jurisdiction. Seokjin let a sigh of relief.
Jeonguk watched to his left and then to his right with a small smile plastered on his face. He watched the birds hopping on the tree branches, squirrels chasing each other through the trunks in a spiral and other kinds of small creatures wondering their way to find food. He enjoyed the view for a moment and turned to look at Seokjin's back.
He silently watched Seokjin's well-built body from the back. He had wide shoulders, lean slightly muscled arms and a perfect fit body. He imagined what it would be like if he remove the clothes.
"Are you enjoying yourself, my lord?"
Jeonguk came out of his trance hearing the voice. For a moment he thought about what he was referring to. The path or his body. The path, obviously.
"W-Well, yeah." he stammered. "Thank you for this, Seokjoon."
"We haven't arrived to the best part yet." Seokjin said. "And I promise you're gonna love it."
"I'm sure." Jeonguk smiled. Then he fell into a silence for a minute before asking, "Where do you live Seokjoon? I mean, right now?"
Seokjin took a moment to answer that. "Just a little far from here."
"You don't live in the mansion area?"
"No, I just rented a small place from nearby. Three silver coins for twenty three days."
"You live alone?"
Seokjin took another moment. "No. I've got my pal with me."
"P-Pal?" Jeonguk mumbled.
"Yes, Min Yoongi. He's my best friend from Baekje."
"Wait, you ain't from Goguryeo? I thought you said-"
"N-No. I lived in Baekje. But I've been to Goguryeo too."
"So you're like travellers, looking for jobs anywhere?"
"You could say."
Jeonguk thought for a second. "Why did you chose Silla though? I heard that Goguryeo is better than any other kingdoms in Korea. Better facilities. Better life. Why did you leave there?"
"W-Well, I don't like staying in the same place for a long time. Even in Goguryeo, I travelled from one place to another doing different kinds of stuff. One time, I worked at a gambling centre."
"Isn't that illegal?"
"It's gambling for the royals."
Jeonguk bit his lip. "D-Did prince Seokjin came to your gambling centre?"
Seokjin swallowed his smile. So Jeonguk's interested in the prince of Goguryeo, huh?
"Not very often." Seokjin said, secretly enjoying his moment. "But when he did, he won all the games. Prince Seokjin is pretty good at gambling. Plus a lot more things."
"Is that how you knew prince Seokjin? From gambling?"
Seokjin nodded. "Yeah."
"Were you two close?"
"Close enough I guess. We used to have Soju after the games. Me, Prince Seokjin and my pal Yoongi."
Jeonguk went silent for another minute. "I-Is he m-married?"
Seokjin was on cloud nine by then. "Which one?"
"P-Prince Seokjin?"
Seokjin smiled to himself. "Wouldn't he have invited you if there was a royal wedding?"
"Oh.. Of course, stupid me."
Seokjin chuckled. "You ain't my lord."
Jeonguk smiled but didn't say anything.
They travelled on for another few minutes before Seokjin pulled the reigns and stopped the cart. Jeonguk clutched the seat to prevent himself from falling. He looked around him and saw that they had come to an end of a road. Three sides of them were covered in a not-so-thick forest while the other held the gravel road they came.
Seokjin climbed down and gave a hand to Jeonguk to help himself down too. Jeonguk plopped himself on the stony floor and took another good look around them. He could hear so many noises around them. Mostly the chirps of birds.
"Where are we?" he asked, curious about the whereabouts.
"You'll see, my lord." Seokjin said behind him.
Without the other noticing, Seokjin slipped a flute inside his jeogori.
"This way, my lord." Seokjin said, stepping ahead of Jeonguk and leading the way the the left side of the forest. "I'm sure you'd be dying to paint it."
