Heavy breathing echoed through the darkness, accompanied by a shiver that ran down Carly's throat. She tried to calm herself, but her nervousness was palpable. Fear gripped her heart, fear of being caught, fear of being seen. The loud footsteps that echoed through the room seemed to be getting closer, and Carly's anxiety spiked.

Oh God, please save me! she silently pleaded, her hands clasped together as she palmed her mouth and nose, holding her breath. The monstrous voice that had been threatening her seemed to be closing in, its roar growing louder with each passing moment.

The tapping of nails on the wall sent shivers down her spine, and the vehement sound of threatening grew more menacing. Carly's heart racing, she watched in horror as the door creaked open, slowly, agonizingly slowly, until it finally swung open, revealing the thing she had been running and hiding from.

Their eyes met, and Carly's blood ran cold. She hadn't expected their encounter to be here, in this place, and yet, here they were, face to face, with no escape in sight.
