Juliette was running as fast as she could, hurtling down alleyways and empty streets. Relentlessly, she pursued the criminal through the maze of concrete buildings until she saw him stop abruptly, pulling his hostage beside him and drawing his weapon.

"FBI, drop your weapon and put your hands where I can see them. Give the girl to me, " She shouted, aiming her gun at his chest. He stared at her, his own gun not wavering. She could see the child behind him shaking with fear, crying.

"I'm not going back to jail, you can't make me, whore," He stammered, his eyes manic and wide. His finger twitched on the trigger; unsure of his next move. His eyes darted to the child he had taken, and the agent knew what he was going to do.

In an instant, he pulled the trigger.

The bullet sunk into the agent's stomach as she dove between the attacker and the girl. She wouldn't let anything happen to her. Blood trickling from the wound, she closed the gap between them, tackling him to the ground. His arms flailed as he attnwpted to overcome the agent, kicking and hitting. She forced him down, holding her guen to his back. He recoiled, and struggled while the agent held him down,

"You're under arrest, stay down," She snapped at the man, cuffing his wrists, before turning to the young girl behind her, "Hello sweetheart, my name is Agent Hawthorne, I'm with the FBI. You're going to be okay. I promise you're safe now."

She heard footsteps behind her and turned, trying to ignore the pain shooting down her arm. The rest of her team had arrived, and she saw an agent comforting the young hostage. Dealing with cases in loving children and kidnapping was one of the hardest parts of the job, but someone had to do it. Someone had to look out for them. Hearing a familair voice yelling orders, she felt someone pull her to her feet; she felt the blood rush to her head as her vision began to blur.

"I need a paramedic here. We have an agent down. The unsub is detained, and the victim is okay but will need a medical examination," the authoritative voice of her supervisor Aaron Hotchner boomed out. The medical team rushed over to her, applying pressure to her wound and strapping her into an ambulance guerny.

The ambulance ride was a blur, fading in and out of consciousness as people shouted and poked and moved around her.

"Hey, kiddo, your injuries aren't fatal. You're going to be fine Juliette, I promise," Hotch said to her, showing his rarely seen soft side. She tried to repsond, but before she could, the anaesthesia kicked in, and her vision went dark.
