I chuckled at Kash's comment under my post, shaking my head at her usual messiness. Then, I texted Yanna, letting her know I'm outside. I've planned a date for us, hoping to get to know her better.

I decided to randomly pull up on her. I heard females liked that kind of thing. Well, I hope so. i sighed hoping my spontaneous gesture would be well-received by Yanna.

I watched as Yanna stepped out of the house, her expression unreadable as she scanned her surroundings until she spotted my car. With a straight face, she walked over, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I had interrupted something.

She entered the car and smiled over at me. She was dressed in a black crop top and light blue jeans, her natural curly hair pulled into a ponytail. She looked really pretty . "You look beautiful," I said, unable to hide the admiration in my voice.

She looked taken aback for a moment, then glanced down at her clothes. "Boy, I literally just hopped out of bed," she protested. I smiled and handed her the teddy bear I bought her. "Still as pretty as ever," I insisted, hoping to reassure her of her natural beauty regardless of the circumstances.

"Aw, this is so cute!" she exclaimed, tugging on the chain and hoodie the teddy bear had on. "On bro," I agreed, laughing along with her, pleased that she liked the gift.

I watched her play around with the bear, trying to ignore the fact that she smelled like cologne. It was a subtle reminder of the other guy she might have been spending time with before my unexpected visit.

"Yanna," I started, struggling to find the right words. She looked over at me, clearly pleased with the gift. "You smell... interesting," I finally managed to say, though I couldn't find myself fully confronting her about the cologne scent.

She furrowed her eyebrows. "What? Do I stink?" she asked, lifting her clothes to smell them.

I quickly shook my head no. "You smell like a nigga," I said bluntly, causing her to pause, perhaps realizing the implication of the scent.

Yanna's pause lingered in the air, and I could feel the tension mounting between us. Unsure of how she would react, I braced myself for her response, hoping that my straightforwardness wouldn't push her away. "Sorry I was just retwisting kee's hair."

Her admission hung between us, and I felt a mix of relief and apprehension wash over me. "Thanks for being honest," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral. Deep down, though, I couldn't deny the twinge of jealousy that tugged at my heartstrings.

I pulled the car off,. "I thought we could go to the mall , grab something to eat and get your nails done?" I suggested, hoping to steer the conversation toward something more lighthearted.

Her eyes lit up, and she nodded enthusiastically. "I would love that," she replied, a smile spreading across her face. With a sense of relief, I returned her smile, grateful that we could move past the awkwardness and enjoy each other's company.

Soon, we pulled into the mall. I opened the door for her and took her hand as we entered the bustling shopping center,

"Where to first?" I asked, glancing around at the various shops lining the mall.

Yanna looked around, considering her options. "Let's get something to eat first," she suggested with a smile. "I'm starving."

"Sounds good to me," I replied, leading her towards the food court.

As we approached the food court, Yanna's stomach growled audibly, eliciting a laugh from both of us.

"Damn. I ain't think you was THAT hungry" I teased, nudging her playfully.

She grinned sheepishly. "shut up"

Internally, I couldn't help but feel a rush of affection towards her. Her easygoing nature and infectious laughter never failed to brighten my day.

After placing our orders, we found a table near the window, enjoying the view of the mall's courtyard as we waited for our food.

"Listen, I know you're exploring your options right now," I began, meeting her gaze directly, "but I'm going to continue to show you why I'm the best one."

Internally, I hoped my words conveyed the depth of my feelings for her. Despite the uncertainty surrounding our relationship, I was determined to prove myself worthy of her affection and loyalty.

Yanna's expression softened, and she reached out to gently squeeze my hand. "Hakeem, you don't have to prove anything to me," she said softly, her eyes reflecting sincerity. "I appreciate your honesty and your efforts to make me feel special."

Her words warmed my heart, and I couldn't help but smile in response. Maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for something more between us. But for now, I was content to enjoy this moment with her, grateful for her presence in my life.
