What we know

1. Gravity's Pull -> We can't actually see the dark matter, but we know it is there because it pulls on things with its gravity.

2. Creating the Universe -> Over a very long period of time, dark matter has enabled galaxies and groups of galaxies to form.

3. Leftover from long age -> Maybe scientists believe that at the beginning of the universe there was some sort of particle made then left behind as dark matter.

4. Cosmic clues -> That means for example studying the background radiation from the big bang and how large structure in space form up.

What we Don't

1. What it's made of -> As yet we still don't really know what exactly dark matter is.

2. How it acts with regular matter -> For instance, although Dark Matter only talks to ordinary baryonic matter through gravity.

3. Where it is in galaxies -> Understanding where in a galaxy all this invisible stuff called "dark matter" is located.

4. Other ideas -> For instance, some scientists have alternative thoughts on what could be leading to these phenomena that we believe are due to dark matter.
