"OKAY," ELLIE BEGAN, kneeling in front of me. she patted my right leg. "one leg at a time, this one first." i lifted my leg and she slid the underwear up it. i placed it back down and we followed the same process.

"this is so dehumanizing," i complained. i slightly lifted my arms up as she pulled a salmon-colored tank-top over my head.

"these past few days have been so dehumanizing," she shot back. she then held a pair of my shorts and we did the same routine. she clasped them at the front and then pulled a blue button-up over my shoulders. she tied it at the front, and i realized what she just did.

"you just dressed me like a second version of you," i pointed out. "this is the same outfit you were wearing until an hour ago."

she paused for a moment and looked me up and down. "oh," she let out. "you're right." she then shrugged. "what's done is done! time for shoes!"

"alan, are you outside?" i called out. "get back in here, she's treating me like a barbie doll!"

the door opened slowly and alan's head peeked in. he saw that i was fully clothed and then stepped in. "would you just let yourself be taken care of?"

"i've been dressing myself since i was 3 years old," i stated. "i'm 26 years old. this is weird."

"you're weird," ellie shot back. "you graduated high school at 12. what about your life makes you think you're normal? you're on an island with dinosaurs!"

i sighed and threw my head back. "okay, okay, fine!"

ellie slid on my socks and then my shoes. she looked over at the man standing in the room, watching us bicker like teenage sisters. "alan, can you tie her shoes? i'm tired."

alan nodded and kneeled in front of me now, carefully tying my shoes, then double knotting them. i snickered. "what?" he asked.

"you know, i thought the first time you'd be kneeling in front of me would be for different reasons," i joked, uncontrollably laughing afterwards.

alan sighed and i could see some pink on his cheeks. he was blushing. ellie placed her hand over her mouth to hide her smiles. "okay," she started, "i have to go ask harding if there's any blood bags here. gwen makes a lot of jokes but i don't think she'd make that kind of joke in a normal state of mind. therefore she's lost a lot of blood."

"make what kind of joke?" i questioned, furrowing my eyebrows. "what did i say?"

alan stood up and placed my arm over his shoulders, wrapping his around my waist. he shook his head. "nothing. you didn't say anything," he said softly.

"take her to her room so she can get some rest," my newfound doctor ordered. i stuck my tongue out at ellie as we passed her and she did the same back.

i thought i had been in the en-suite bathroom to my room, but as we passed through the attached bedroom, i realized we were in a vacant room's bathroom. oh. what? it was only a few steps until my room, so it wasn't that long of jaunt. when we stood in front of my bed, i paused. "why did we spend so long tying my shoes for me to just get in bed?"
