Who is that

I woke up hearing the sound of an alarm clock and smelling something like, SMOKE. 

"Shit"

I raced out of bed and ran to the kitchen grasping the nearest towel to put out the burning toast.

"Ma really"

"Sorry sweetie I went to wake up your sister and completely forgot"

Today was basketball tryouts I did not need this to start of my morning with.

Anyway let me introduce myself I'm grace smith I have blue eyes, brunette hair and one goal, make it pro with basketball I've been doing basketball since I was 7 amd have been obsessed with it ever since. My Mum works almost full time 7 days a week so I don't see her much I always drive my sister to school so I see her too often and my dad lives somewhere in Canada with his new wife and kids, so that's always fun.

"Lexi! I'm leaving now so hurry up Or I'm leaving you behind"

"Jeez I'm coming" Lexi yelled back at me

I got into my car and drove off to school, I saw a sleek red car.

"Who the fuck is that" I muttered under my breath, soon stepped out a talk figure with the face looking quite similar to a nick Mendez . No way jace Carson's enemy and basically the whole schools enemy was now at our school." Hurt up and get out Lexi "

"Jeez why"

"Just because now out!"

I grabbed my phone and dialed crystals number. She picked up after the 3rd ring 

"Hey girl whats u-"  

"You will never believe who just walked into the school. Nick fucking Mendez" 

"What there's no way"

"Yes right on the day of basketball trials"

Well I'm gonna need to talk at school I gotta call jace"

"Yeah good luck bye"

"Bye"

I hopped out of my car and paced into the school which was crowded with people taking photos and videos. I tried to sneak my way past, but they were clogging up the hallway.

"What's everyone going on about"

And that's when I saw him, Nick Mendez was standing right in front of me, glaring at me with those hazel eyes and the judge mental stare that he seems to have on his face way too much. 

He looks at me for a while 

"Hey, I know you from somewhere" he says to me in his annoying yet hot voice, wait did I just call his voice Hot!

I blanc out for a couple of seconds, staring into his eyes

"Wait what did you say" I say back in a rushed voice,

"I said, I swear I know you from somewhere wait are you the girl who shot the three during the national championships and missed it?"

"I guess that's how you want to refer to me me, but I promise I've done all the great things in my career"

"Oh, well I'm-"

"Nick Mendez I know" I say nervously, while shaking his hand

"Well, I gotta get to class but I'm assuming I'll see you at basketball tryouts"?

"You'll see me there"

"I never quite caught  your name."

"Oh it's grace"

"Well it was nice to meet you but I gotta go sorry"

"Ok bye"

I turned around and my hands were sweating why were my hands sweating?

———————-time skip to basketball tryouts———————-

Grace, crystal and the others wipers all in the locker rooms talking

"Hey jace whatsupp"

"Yo grace long time no see how you been"

"Yeah not bad "

"Okay now Grace, be honest, do you have the feels for a dude named nick Mendez?'"

"What no why would you think that" I looked up at the others

"Why would anyone think that?" I said anxiously 

Cj looked down at me with a concerned look

"When you first saw him today, you looked really nervous, and when is THE grace smith ever nervous"

"GUYS I can tell you I do not like nick Mendez ok."

Everyone started to stare at me with a shocked look.

"Why are you guys all staring at me like you're so shocked"

Crystal was the first to speak up "grace just, uh look behind you"

I what's confused at first, but I slowly turned around to see Nick Mendis, staring right at me with a very confused face.

I was the first to speak up "heeey, I was talking about the other nick Mendez , the one that lives in LA"

I was hoping that he would believe my statement, but everyone else's face didn't back me up.

After a long ,Knute in silence he finally spoke up "yeah I'm her to make a basketball team soo I'm just gonna forget that happened"

"For the best" I muttered 

I jumped as coach came in "are we al, ready"

"Yeah!" We all yelled back

"Well then let's get out there then"

We all went out to the courts, and I tried to avoid eye contact with nick, but it was quite hard as he kept staring at me.

"OK boys I'm gonna get your 1st game sorted and I'll get you girls sorted while the boys are playing ok"

"Yes coach"

The first round of boys went on, who were nick, jace, cj drew and phill

"Let's go cj!" He looked back at me and smiled.I would never have a relationship with CJ he's like my brother I'm there for him and he's there for me.and I mums are best friends, so we have been friends since we were really young.

The game began strongly with Nick making a quite impressive dunk and celebrating with this weird ass dance that he does, I will say it's impressive though. The 1st game finished and then it was the girls turn. 

The boys walked off the court all sweaty

"Not too bad mr mendez" 

"Why thank you ms smith can't wait to see what you put out there" he did a bow before stepping of the court.

Me and crystal did our handshake before taking the court and the trials started. I was up against Farah Jones aka biggest definition of a bitch. I was in the center ready to jump as the whistle went off.

I jumped and Flicked the ball to crystal and she went for a clear and wide open layup and boom, she scores easily. 

"Wooooo" all of a sudden the boys erupt in cheers but now we're on defence"

Tara takes the ball and I read that bitch like a book, I laid back and wait for her to pass an ice brick right towards the ball and intercept it and go for the three.

And boom 5-0 in a minute , I look straight at nick who looks at me impressed, I shrug my shoulders at him, and he laughs. 

By the end of trials I'm cooked but now we just gotta wait and see who made the team.
