As I walk of the court nick high fives me, what the hell I swear In all the stories I've heard he's a mean bitch who has an ego higher than his voice never respects anyone, but maybe he's different.

"I just wanna say, I hope you are all so proud of yourself as you all put everything out on that court today but unfortunately I can only pick two teams of 7 or 8"

"And recently there has been a new competition with a mixed girls and boys basketball team and today I decided that I was going to pick a mixed team"

We all looked around and clapped, I mixed basketball team can get us girls in from scouts and can really improve our playing.

"So first, I will announce the boy team"

"Jace Carson,drew Murphy, Rusa mahaim,royal Hughes, cj, Vince Charles, and nick Mendez"

Everyone starts clapping and celebrating, with each other But there's still the mixed and girl team to be announced.

"And the girls team is crystal, Stella ,Tyra, grace savannah, lily and Monica "

I immediately hug crystal as we celebrate but she's quickly taken away from me by Jay's taking Lorraine to his mom and Bryce and them celebrating together.

"No that's ok Jace I was definitely done celebrating but that's cool"

"Hah sorry grace let me celebrate with my girl"

I quickly feel someone hug me from behind, I look back and see it's nick. 

"Congratulations on your making the team ms smith"

"You too mr mendez"

I don't know where my mind went, but my phone just told me to go in for a hug and that's what exactly what we did,I didnt even mind it I had a feeling we were going to be good friends.

"Okay guys, let's not go ahead of ourselves" coach said

"For our final team containing 4 boys and 4 girls will be Jace , cj,nick , and Drew"

I elbow nick as a congratulations as he massages my shoulders I have an attempt to loosen me up.

"You're up next" he said in a whisper.

"And for our girls tyra, crystal, savannah and grace"

I immediately start uncontrollably smiling and jumping with nick as we start all cheering.

Jace yells "THE WORLD AINT READY"

"FOR THIS SMOKE!" We all yell back

"AY AY AY!" Coach yells

"No, I know we always go to the captains but because the next season starts, so really, I decided on captains today. For the The boy captain I went with someone who could take this captaincy as a training as a way to get used to the team so tue boy captain is nick Mendez"

I look over at nick who had moved towards Tyra and watch him as he celebrates with tyra the same way he celebrated with me. What a dick.

"And for the girl captain grace smith"

"Woooo"

Me and  Crystal watch as tryas face turns red and teary and the attention goes towards her, it ,Akers me wanna laugh but crystals always got my back.

Crystal yells out "WHAT DO WE THINK OF GRACE!"

"SHES ALLRIGHT," they all yell back as I'm left smiling away.

"OK, you guys Captain photo" Crystal blurts out randomly with her camera sticking in my face.

" yo nick get your little Spanish ass over here" jace says jokingly

Nick jogs his way over and puts his hand around my waist for the photo I know he probably does that for all his photos but jeez it made me have butterflies.

"Congrats fellow captain" he says to me

"See you bright and early for training tomorrow"

Today was a good day until I got home.

"Hello" I yelled into my empty house 

"Mum"

My mum comes running down the stairs " grace can you be any louder your sisters on a zoom call with a prestigious school"

"But Mum I got captain for the mixed team and I made the girls one!"

"Sshh grace did I not just tell yo7 to be quiet"

"Yes sorry"

I walk up to my room take a shower and go to bed.
