The day before today had been somewhat eventful. The day had been boring until the sun started to set. The Autobots when out to fight, and Smokescreen even helped Bulkhead defeat some weird looking Decepticon. It was pretty fun, and he thinks Bulkhead might be starting to like him.

Smokescreen has been spending his day with Jack, the human. Learning many things about human road lays and fast food. They had just come back from pranking the mean human who had thrown a greasy, disgusting, burger at Smokescreen. Unfortunately the rest of the Autobots didn't find it as fun as he had.

Jack convinces Smokescreen to head out again so they can prank Jack's boss. Smokescreen agrees, though he's disappointed when he returns to base. Everyone but Ratchet has gone out on a mission, leaving Smokescreen alone and restless. Ratchet can't seem to contact the rest of the team, but a Iacon relic beacon has been found.

"I'll go," Smokescreen offers.

"Alone?" Ratchet responds.

"You got a better option?"

"Fine."

Ratchet sighs and opens the ground bridge. Smokescreen smirks as he manages to convince Jack to come with him.

On the other side, Smokescreen finds many Decepticons working on something. He's not exactly sure what they're doing, though it looks like they're trying to remove something from the mountain. He also notices a few Insecticons. Finally, the view clears.

"Woah, it's a sword," Jack says.

"Not just any sword. That looks like the Star Saber. A legendary weapon forged by Solas Prime... as lore would have it," Smokescreen explains, "it's rumored to wield the power of the Matrix. I'm gonna make Optimus proud."

Jack interrupts, "Not a good idea."

"Why?"

"Because Megatron's here."

Smokescreen looks over at Megatron, "The Dark Lord himself. He won't know what hit him."

Smokescreen starts moving, but jack stops him.

"Smokescreen, wait. Something isn't right," Jack says, "Why doesn't Megatron just take the Star Saber?"

"Germaphobe?" Smokescreen guesses.

"Seriously, we need to wait for backup."

"You heard Ratchet. Backup's no available right now."

Smokescreen rushes towards the saber, shooting his way past Vehicons to reach it. He grabs the hilt and starts to pull before he pauses.

"I... I can't. I'm not a Prime, so I can't pull it out. I should have waited," Smokescreen backs up.

A Vehicon shoots him in the back and he falls down, faking pain. He's quickly surrounded and grabbed. This is a bad idea, but it's his only choice now. The Decepticons drag Smokescreen over to Megatron, who smiles wide.

"I know you," Megatron leans down to grab Smokescreen's helm, "You're that little Autobot that I keep getting strange reports about. Though one who has no spark."

Smokescreen's optics widen. Megatron knows.

"Tell me, Autobot, how is it possible to function without a spark?" Megatron pulls Smokescreen closer.

Smokescreen smirks, "Who wants to know?"

Megatron growls in rage and throws Smokescreen to the ground. Just then, the other Autobots arrive. Smokescreen uses the opportunity to rush over to the Star Saber, ignoring any shots fired his way. If Megatron tries taking the saber, Smokescreen needs to make sure it doesn't happen. They had already started the transport, but Smokescreen is quick.

Optimus is a bit farther behind him, he tries telling Smokescreen to stand down, but Smokescreen doesn't listen. He just hopes Optimus manages to reach the relic. Smokescreen jumps and lands on the rock, holding on tight so he doesn't fall. About a minute after him, Optimus attempts the same. The Decepticons fire many shots at him, one actually making contact. Optimus reaches out for the saber, and fails. He falls to the ground, though he seems alright.

Smokescreen looks down at the saber and contemplates his options. He could try removing the saber, or he could stay on the rock and probably get captured by the Decepticons. He sighs and makes his way down to the saber, holding the handle tightly.

"Please. I can't let Megatron take this. If he finds a way to wield it... it could be the end of everything. Please," Smokescreen begs.

The Star Saber begins to glow blue, energy coming from it and spreading outwards. The saber slips free from the rock and Smokescreen finds himself falling. He manages to plant he peds on the ground, keeping the saber in his grasp. He smiles at Optimus and hands the Star Saber over. Optimus quickly uses the saber to slice the rock in half, which Megatron tried dropping on then. He also hits the Nemesis, just before they get away.

They return to base as Smokescreen smiles wide.

"That was epic! I saw it with my own optics and I still don't believe it!" Smokescreen spins around.

"You put a human in danger," Arcee scolds.

"Arcee, it was my fault. Smokesc-" Jack starts.

"Don't you even start Jack. Go home, we'll talk tomorrow," Arcee turns to Ratchet, "Send Jack home."

Ratchet opens the ground bridge and Jack walks through.

"I'm sorry I put him at risk. I understand if you want to kick me off the team," Smokescreen lowers his helm.

"Endangering a human well not be tolerated," Optimus states, "But you will still be allowed to stay."

Suddenly the Star Saber lights up, Optimus holds it out in front of himself.

"Talk to me," Ratchet sounds worried.

"I am receiving a message," Optimus responds.

"From who?" Ratchet asks.

"Alpha Trion."
