The next week was hard for Harry. He was mostly alone in classes and outside in the yard, or by the lake. No one wanted to talk to him because everyone still thought that he had put his name in the goblet of fire.
Evelyn and Harry's fight was never resolved and she felt guilty each time she was with Cedric and not with Harry. She saw students of all houses with a pin that said "go Cedric" and whenever Harry was around it would turned into "Harry stinks".
She wanted to yell at them and tell them how stupid they all were, but she couldn't find the courage to tell them.
Cedric could see how much she cared for Harry and he was feeling more and more jealous each time. He was trying his best to be supportive but it was sad that all he knew about Evelyn was things related to Harry.
Hopefully after the first task is over, they would have their first date and she will be more open about herself.
Just as that thought crossed his mind, he saw Harry making his way towards them. They were sitting outside with some of their Hufflepuff friends and Evelyn hasn't noticed him coming towards them.
As Harry made his way towards them the rest of Cedric's friends noticed and started saying "ohhh Potter stinks!""Guys stop." Evelyn managed to say, as soon as she realized what was happening.
They shut up surprisingly, making Harry look at her with something that said "thank you" in his eyes. "Can I talk to you alone?"
Harry was looking at Cedric, which surprised everyone even more. Evelyn was curious to see what it was about but then she thought it would be about the first task.
She agreed not to tell him because Harry wanted to do it himself. Maybe this way they could grow to care about each other.
"Dragons. That's the first task." Harry told Cedric. He was so shocked he couldn't really process the information.
"You can't be serious?"
"Yes. I saw them. Hagrid showed them to me."
"Oh Merlin..." Cedric muttered under his breath, feeling just as nervous as Harry. "Do you have a plan?"
"Nothing. I'm going to the library after this to figure it out."
Cedric nodded and Harry said goodbye, making Evelyn, who was watching in the distance, feel a small pang on her heart since he didn't even look back at her once.
She stood up from the grass as she went towards Cedric who stayed in the same place in his own thoughts. "Hey, is everything okay?"
Cedric came back to reality when he saw Evelyn with a worried expression on her face. "Yeah. Harry just told me the first task."
"Oh... yeah. I went and looked at the dragons with him. He wanted to be the one to tell you."
"It's okay. You don't have to explain." Evelyn nodded as Cedric went back to his thoughts.
"Cedric... you'll be fine. You're prepared for this." Evelyn tried to reassure him, but even she felt nervous. Two of her most favorite people are going to be in this stupid tournament and she felt nervous, more than what she could admit.
"Thank you." However, before they could say something else, they heard some commotion in the yard next to them and people gathering around. They both made their way towards the students, curious to see what was going on.
"Why so tense Potter?" Evelyn could hear and she already knew who it was.
This won't be good.
"My father and I have a bet you see. I don't think you're gonna last 10 minutes in this tournament. He disagrees. He thinks you're gonna last 5." The other slytherins started to laugh with Malfoy, but Harry had enough.
