a nightmare

They were walking for a while now, until they stopped in their tracks, looking at each other. Both decided that they would sit by a nearby bench to talk about their weird encounters.

T—— "Dude... what happened to you earlier?"

C—— "Well... I just wanted to check the group chat earlier... since I couldn't sleep..."

T—— "So did I..."

C—— "Everyone in the chat seemed to be online for some reason... and I dunno if it was my phone or not, but their messages were glitching in all sorts of stuff..."

T—— "Dude, that's creepy.."

They both sat in silence for a few minutes. Unsure of what to say next, both thinking of anything to distract themselves. Until Tyler broke the irritating silence.

T—— "...We could go to our friend's house..."

C—— "...whose house though..?"

T—— "Anyone, honestly..."

C—— "I guess...? We can ask Lindsay since she's the closest from here.."

T—— "...okay then."

They agreed to go walk up to Lindsay's house. Very cautious and wary of their surroundings. They have no idea what time it is, Cody's phone died eventually and Tyler's phone is at 20%. How lucky they are right now. The walk there was eerily silent, which creeped out the both of them. So Cody decided to say some goofy ahh things to lighten the mood. It did help and they were very distracted while doing so. Soon they reached it and Tyler still had the keys to her house, (when they were dating 😦) it was dark when they got inside there, they shrugged it off since it's late at night and Lindsay was probably still sleeping though.

C—— "Man this is sorta creeping me out still..."

Sitting on the couch. He said, feeling a bit nervous, he doesn't know why. He just trusts Tyler, since he's been here multiple times than him before.

T—— "I mean... We're up at an ungodly hour right now.. and you said weird things happened in the group chat, right...?" [they're basically invading someone's house without permission wtf😓]

He says, while trying to find the light switch.

C—— "...yeah.."

He nodded slowly. The nervous feeling still there, he decided to look around for a bit. Being the curious person he is.
He went upstairs quietly, slightly shocked that the hallway there was big. But that doesn't matter now. He tried to find Lindsay and ask her if it was okay-ish to stay here or something. Of course he wouldn't just barge into the room, he respects privacy of course. He knocked on the door to what he thinks it's Lindsay's room, no response. He knocked a few times again, still no response. He wonders if she's just a deep sleeper, he hesitated, but he peaked into the room and saw,

No one there.

(Huh, that's weird...) He thought. He wonders if the latter knows anything about this. He starts to theorize, if Lindsay isn't here... then maybe the other people aren't as well? He shook his head, trying to debunk that thought. That's just a stupid theory. He closed the door, and started to look around the other rooms in the hallway.

———

Okay. Maybe his little dumb theory was right. Because when he checked the other rooms, he didn't see a single person. A few more rooms later, he was right. He checked almost every available room upstairs and saw not a single person in sight. There's a gut feeling of his that they might've went somewhere else. Somewhere they don't know or haven't been to. But it really wasn't that major and he ignored it. He went downstairs to find Tyler.
