Cautiously crawling through the undergrowth, I made sure I wasn't seen.

The art of deception is worth learning and without it, I doubt you'd survive. In Alexandria you have to be smart. Street smart that is. Without the basic skills of lying, deception and thievery no one survives here. It's common knowledge.

I checked behind me as I rounded the corner at the edge of the forest. Alone. I exhaled, relieved at the fact no soul had dared to cross me, that's when she spoke.

"You think this is your hideout don't you,"

Damn it, Kaedé.

"You're a psycopath"

"I prefer creative"

"Yeah right"

Laughter lingered in the dusty purple sky as we excitedly ran between the trees.

"You're such an idiot" said I
"Yeah? I bet you 2 pounds I'm smarter than you" Kaedé exclaimed, taking a breath between words as if oxygen was slowly deteriorating before her.
I bellowed loudly at her bet and responded,
"I highly doubt you'd win that Kaé"
"Oh you wanker of course I'll win"
"Keep believing in yourself"
She rolled her eyes slowly and tilted her head up toward the sky.
"You see that?"
"What?" I questioned.
"The stars...Mama is up there somewhere,"
"Hey," I started, "I'm sorry, if you need any-"
"No." She replied quickly, "I don't need anything"
"Oi, why can't you belive you're human for once? why do you refuse help? I can help, Kaé. For god's sake I'm trained in this shi-"
A hand moved rapidly to my mouth, silencing any words that wanted to pour out, blocking their exit.
Kaedé lent forwards and whispered into my ear, "don't say a word."
She moved swiftly backwards and onto her feet.
She rose up cautiously and she helped me up.
We stood back to back, daggers held Infront of us, not uttering a word.

"Well don't say hello"

Kaedé responded swiftly with her dagger pointed towards the luminous figure, "We will if you tell us who you are!"

The figure laughed. Bellows if you will. Loud, enigmatic chuckles that lingered through the night air and sent shivers spiralling down my spine.

"What's the point in having a fun guessing game if i just tell you?"

They strolled lazily from the shadows they resided in and stepped confidently toward us.
Their footsteps collided with the side of the mountain and the sound reverberated through my veins and it played repeatedly in my head and it scared me to death.
The power this person holds scares me to death.
They themself scare me to death.

The way they held their dagger indolently by their waist, how a cloak of deep red was draped across their broad shoulders, how the confidence dripped off them and radiated into the night, and how they stared at me like I was seen.

"Okay, what's going on here?" sounding quite ticked off Kaé spoke to fill the everlasting silence.

"If you shut up, i'll tell you" the male responded.

"You..." He pointed at me, "Sage, right?"

Confusion flashed across my face for the quickest second until I masked it. If growing up in Alex taught me anything, it's to never be vulnerable or look afraid, that's how you get jumped.

"No, dunno what you're on about actually"

"Don't lie to me love" a small smile tugged at the side of his face.

"Don't call me 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦, I hate that, you know if you ever want someone's attention theres no need to be a bitc-"

"SAGE SHUT IT!" Kaé shouted.

"Right,"

He smiled again.
This time it was more cunning..like he was planning something.

"Let me get this straight...you'll respond to her, but not me?"

I laughed, "Well yeah, i've known her longer than your sumptuous arse"

Kaé interrupted again, "𝘚𝘢𝘨𝘦!"

"Sumptuous, am i?" He shook his head slowly.
"I'm not sumptuous, I come from a very poor family-"

"Right, so why do we need to know your backstory?"

He sighed reluctantly and looked me deep in the eyes like he was staring into my soul and reading me like a book.

"...."
"...because.."
"nevermind"
"I'll tell you when we get there,"He stated casually.

"SORRY WHERE?!" I screamed,
"IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH YOU, YOU FOUL, LOATHSOME ARSEHOLE! YOU STRUT INTO OUR SPOT, TALKING ALL THIS BULLSH-"
