she comes home to find you asleep

"Y/N, I'm home!" Dayeon called out as she walked into your shared home.

It's not that late, just a little after eleven pm, and you're almost always up at this hour.

She thought she'd hear you running to her or call out for her to at least let her know where you were but all she heard was quiet.

"Babe?" She spoke before she began to make her way upstairs to the bedroom.

She figured you must have your headphones in because she knows you turn your music up a little loud at times when you listen to your favorite songs and that would drown out the sound of her voice.

But when she reached the bedroom, just as she thought about teasing you by sneaking up on you to make you jump, she froze because she saw that you were asleep.

There you were on her side of the bed, out like a light as your back rose and fell with each breath you took in and let out.

She smiled brightly and walked over to you before gently sitting on the edge of the mattress next to you.

"I hope you're having sweet dreams." She whispered. "Maybe about me."

She had no intention of waking you when she thought you were sleeping so peacefully and, if you're out cold at this hour she knows you must be exhausted.

But she watched your lips start to tug into a smile before your eyes slowly opened.

"Oh, hi angel," She happily said before kissing your forehead. "I wasn't going to wake you."

"It's alright." You tiredly spoke. "I wasn't sleeping deeply so I heard your voice."

She reached over to caress your cheek softly.

"How was your day?"

"Good." She replied. "Long but pretty good. I'm going to change and brush my teeth and then I'll come cuddle you and we can get some rest."

"Okay, baby. Don't take too long, I've missed you."

"I'll be back in just a moment, I promise." She said and kissed your cheek before getting up and going into the bathroom to get changed.

She tried to hurry because she was so excited to crawl under the covers and cuddle you as you shared a few kisses and just talked about whatever; it's what she needed after a long day.

But even though she only took a few minutes to change into her pajamas, brush her hair and teeth, take her makeup off, and freshen up a little for the night, by the time she opened the bathroom door she saw that you had fallen back asleep.

You were still asleep on her side of the bed so she shook her head with a smile and decided not to wake you and sleep on your side instead.

"Did I take that long?" She joked as she crawled under the blankets and watched your eyes open just a little.

"Sorry, I'm just so tired." You mumbled sleepily, letting your eyes slip shut again.

"It's okay." She spoke before scooting closer to you to wrap you in her arms. "You can rest."

"Give me a kiss first?" You asked and she leaned in to give you a soft kiss. "Perfect."

She giggled and put her head on your pillow with a contented sigh.

"I love you lots."

"I love you too, baby." You said. "And I missed you today."

"I missed you too."

She took your hand into hers and brought it to her lips for a kiss and your heart skipped a beat at the feeling.

"I'm sorry I'm not more talkative tonight. It's been a long week, I'm just exhausted."

"You don't have to explain. I understand, my love. You know that I go through this too sometimes and you're always so understanding about it too."

You smiled a little as you started to drift off to sleep.

"Dayeon?"

"Yes?"

"Tell me about your day. I want to hear your voice as I fall asleep."

She squeezed your hand and smiled to herself before she started to open up about her day, knowing you were listening to every word and detail until you fell asleep.
