I raised my gaze to Mommy as she suddenly appeared from outside because the office of the company called. "Anak, there's an urgent emergency at the company. Your Dad and I had to leave."
I stood up from my seat. "Bakit daw? What happened?" I asked, feeling worried.
Whenever something happened at the company, Daddy and Mommy would become busy and wouldn't have time to eat or sometimes couldn't come home because there was work to be done at the company.
I used to wish that I had a sibling so I wouldn't feel so lonely in moments like this.
"Don't worry about it, we'll handle it. Mabuti pa't sumabay kana lang saamin ng Daddy mo pauwi-"
"But I want to stay and watch over Angelo," I interrupted.
Mommy looked at me in disbelief for a moment. "Pero, Anak..."
"Please, Ma," I pleaded.
Yumuko ako at pinaglaruan ang kamay. "You want me to stay at home, but being under that roof without both you and Dad just makes me feel lonely." I said in a whisper, but I made sure she could hear it.
Tumingin ako kay Mama. There was a tinge of disappointment in Mom's eyes. "Monica..."
"Please, let me stay here, Mom. I just want to take care of Angelo, that's all." I pleaded again.
I accompanied Mama and Papa downstairs to the parking lot, and Mom kept apologizing while hugging me before they left. I reassured her that she didn't need to worry about it anymore.
When I went back to Angelo's room, I suddenly cried when I remembered Mom crying because of what I said. Nakakadismaya, nakakainis pa, bakit ko ba kasi nasabi 'yon? I returned to sit on the side of Angelo's bed and immediately looked away, wiping my tears when Angelo moved.
I suddenly heard him breathe heavily. "You don't need to hide that you were crying, just let it all out." He gently said.
I felt his hands brushing the back of my hair. "I'll just pretend that I didn't see you crying." I sobbed harder upon hearing what he said.
I just kept crying while he continued to pat my back "Leaves will soon grow from the bareness of trees... And all will be alright in time, from waves over-grown come the calmness of seas... And all will be alright in time..." And then he suddenly sang me a song titled; Leaves.
It was the first time I expressed my feelings to my Mom like that, and it pained me to know that I hurt her feelings. However, I also felt a bit relieved knowing that Daddy didn't hear it.
"Shsh..." Angelo is trying to make me feel better.
I cried softly now, then slowly took a nap and turned to the left side where Angelo couldn't see my face. It's embarrassing for me to be seen like this. I fell asleep when Angelo started caressing my hair again. It always makes me sleepy when someone plays with my hair.
"Hm?" Hours later, Angelo woke me up.
"Let's eat for a while, and then you can sleep again," Angelo said gently.
Pilit kong binuka ang mga mata ko. "Wait, did you buy these by yourself?" I asked, feeling worried.
He chuckled and licked his lower lip. "Of course I didn't. I ordered it." He opened a small plastic container, handed it to me, and put the fork inside for me to eat.
"Thankyou for the food, Lord." Angelo said in whisper.
We both had carbonara, and there was also a box of pizza beside him near me. I tried not to close my eyes while eating. After finishing the carbonara, I started eating the pizza. I could hear Angelo laughing while looking at me.
