Chapter 1: Marry Even If You Don't Want to

"She has to marry me even if she doesn't want to. Things have come to this point, and we can still let her do whatever she wants."
The furious shout of a middle-aged man rang out in a living room in the machinery factory's staff quarters.
On a summer afternoon in 1973, every household in the tube-shaped building of the machinery factory's staff compound had its windows open, and an undisguised shout instantly reached the ears of several households upstairs and downstairs.
"Okay, calm down. Many people upstairs and downstairs have returned home at this time. If someone hears this, how will Xiaoya live her life in the future?"
Then a gentle and soft voice was heard, followed by the sound of slippers shuffling on the concrete floor.
"Why close the windows in such hot weather? That little girl is not afraid of doing such a thing, so why should she be afraid of what others say?" The middle-aged man was so angry that his face turned red, but he did not reduce the majesty of a high-ranking official at all. He sat on the solid wood sofa in the living room with his legs exposed, facing the closed door not far away, and said with gritted teeth: "Now everyone in the family compound knows about the bad things this little girl has done. At such a young age, she dared to go out with a man to watch movies and drink beverages in the middle of the night without telling her family. You don't know how much face I have lost on the way out of the factory."
"And you!" The middle-aged man turned his head to look at his wife who was standing by the window and didn't dare to close it. He frowned and said angrily: "Why did you buy her a tattered skirt for no reason? And after buying it, you let people show it everywhere. Because of that skirt, now everyone knows that the stinky girl is dating a man who is more than ten years older than her."
"This..." The woman was so aggrieved that she lowered her head and twisted the corner of her shirt with her hands, and whispered, "I saw that Xiaoya didn't have any decent skirts and the child was getting older, so I wanted to buy her a brightly colored one to dress her up. I didn't take out the skirt. It happened to be bought by Accountant Chen's wife..."
"Dress up? You dress up like a bastard just to go with a wild man..."
"That's enough, are you done yet?"
A delicate cry accompanied by the sound of the door being pushed open rang out in the living room.
At the door of the bedroom stood a pretty girl with a gorgeous look in her eyes, as if any glance could draw people's souls out. However, her natural smile made her look soft and tender, as if she had a bad temper and was easy to bully. However, the little girl stood at the door with a frosty face, looking at her father opposite her with a cold expression.
An Wenya glanced at the woman by the window calmly, then her eyes fell on her father An Dewen again, and she said in a very calm tone: "I said it yesterday, it was not me who appeared at the door of the cinema in the middle of the night. As for that skirt..."
An Wenya turned around and took a piece of bright red cloth from the cabinet next to the bedroom door, then threw it on the floor of the living room. She crossed her arms, leaned against the door, and said coldly, "I have never worn the things this woman gave me since I came back here. I cut this torn skirt when I brought it back. God knows which bitch couldn't stand the loneliness and ran to the cinema with a gangster leader who was not doing his job in the middle of the night."
When An Wenya said the last sentence, she curled the corners of her lips into a light red color and glanced at the woman by the window with a cold and sarcastic look. As expected, she saw the resentment and dissatisfaction that was hard to conceal on the other's face.
At this point, Father An almost didn't want to play anymore. He looked at his little girl speechlessly, took a deep breath, and then continued to act out the play he had set.
We can’t let this troublesome little girl find out anything, otherwise our house will be turned upside down!
Although, the purpose was to let her turn this family upside down!
"What's the point of cutting your skirt now? The news that you are dating Secretary Liu's son has spread. You just graduated from high school. You can get married after you have packed up your things."
When the woman by the window heard Ander's words, a look of joy appeared on her face. Before she could speak, a crisp sound suddenly exploded in the living room.
  "boom!"
An Wenya waved her hand and threw the vase on the cabinet beside the wall to the ground, and glass fragments instantly exploded on the floor of the living room.
Don't be fooled by the fact that this girl looks fair, soft, weak and easy to bully, she actually has a very bad temper.
"An Dewen, are you crazy? You actually asked me to marry that old bastard from the Liu family. Don't you know that he beat his ex-wife to death? I wanted to vomit last year's food when I saw him. You actually asked me to marry him, you..." An Wenya was really unable to calm down at this moment. She looked at her father who seemed to have a serious mental illness in disbelief, pointed at him and said with gritted teeth: "Aren't you afraid that I will tell Grandpa and let him beat you to death?"
However, An Wende was not panicked at all. The anger just now disappeared from his face. Instead, he had a bit of fearlessness and depression: "You should have received your cousin's letter. Neither your grandfather nor your uncle should have the energy to take care of you now. You know who Liu Yaotang's father is. Now everyone knows that you are dating his son. Do you have any other way out except marrying him?
Your father is just the director of a small machinery factory, and I can't compete with the director of the cabinet committee. Besides, you want to drag your whole family down with you and have your backs rubbed."
An Wenya looked at the father who had suddenly become a stranger to her. She was so angry that she couldn't control her shaking. She clenched her fists and looked at Anderwen with red eyes. She asked in a hoarse voice, "So, you sold me out without asking the truth."
Anderwen's brows twitched slightly, and he looked at his daughter with deep eyes, as if he took a deep breath.
"Alright, alright, you two should stop arguing. The matter about Secretary Liu's ex-daughter-in-law is just rumors outside. How can you really beat someone to death? If you ask me, this marriage is something that others can't even beg for."
"Shut up, you have no right to speak here." An Wenya pointed her finger at him and shouted angrily, not feeling the need to give any face to this double-faced and extremely hypocritical stepmother.
"An Wenya, where is your upbringing?" An Dewen stood up suddenly and glared at his daughter: "Although you refuse to call her mother, she is still your stepmother."
"Tsk." An Wenya sneered disdainfully, looking at the couple with irony: "Mom? I, An Wenya, have a mother but no father to raise me, and a stepmother doesn't even exist for me. As for you..." An Wenya looked at Liu Xiaohui opposite, "Don't pretend to be weak and virtuous in front of me. That old bastard surnamed Liu is so good, why don't you let your precious daughter marry him, after all..."
An Wenya smiled sweetly, but what she said made Liu Xiaohui pale instantly: "It's still unknown who was the person who appeared at the entrance of the cinema that day."
"An Wenya." Anderwen didn't give Liu Xiaohui a chance to speak. He shouted angrily, glared at An Wenya and said, "Don't push everything onto your sister. Aren't your Aunt Liu and your sister giving in to you enough over the years?"
An Wenya bit her back teeth, looked at her mentally ill father fiercely with red eyes, and said fiercely: "An Dewen, when my grandma gave birth to you, did she forget to give you a pair of good eyes?"
The little girl said this, not caring how angry her father was, she turned around, said two words silently, and closed the door again with a "bang".
  "Stupid!"
