"we are all sinners."

if i had one wish, it would be to become a cloud.

just simply drifting along in the sky, watching human civilization below me as i either destroy or contribute to their lives.

i don't really find pleasure in the life i live currently. nobody wants to become a soldier.

but unfortunately for me, it's the only way for us to survive.

survive...

none of us survived.

"hey sleepyhead... wake up."

soft lashes fluttered open from the gentle voice calling out to her, and the first thing that the (h/c) haired girl saw was the big blue sky.

'what a terrible dream...'

her vision slowly adjusted as the girl blinks a few times, and out of nowhere, a smiling face peeks down at her.

"skipping training, hm?"

the girl looks up at the person in alarm, sitting up abruptly and saluting.

"sebastian, sir! i apologise, i was just—"

"halt. you do not need to explain, i already know."

the dark haired man chuckles, confusing the girl.

"may i ask what you mean by that?"

first, she was woken up by her troop captain of all people and now this man is acting like he knew her? what a way to start the day.

"ah, pardon me. that must've sounded weird considering we don't know each other. as a troop leader, i am obligated to know about the background of every new recruit scouts. including you, [name]."

he sits up properly, aware of her suspicious gaze.

"i just happen to hear rumors about you having a habit of slacking around when it comes to training."

"...do all troop leaders do that?"

[name] mumbles to herself, before correcting herself.

"uh, i mean... i'm sorry for slacking, captain. i will return to training."

"now now, i don't remember saying anything about going back to training."

while she does find it weird that her captain of all people woke her up from her dream that makes her feel disoriented, she didn't question him.

"i'm curious. i've heard several rumors about you, scout. is it true that you have quite the experience with swordsmanship and firearms?"

'i'm just trying to nap under a tree... now i'm being interviewed by my captain.'

[name] thought to herself as she sat back down in front of the man.
