"Graaaandmaaaa!!!!!!" I shrieked.

"Oh, Kellina Daaaarling! And my dear Margaret!" Grandma said as she kissed Mom and me on the cheek.

"We made cake! It just finished and you can have the first slice Grandma!"
I said with the biggest smile on my face.

"Oh why thank you Kelli!" Grandma replied as Mom cut her a slice.

The cake, if I must say so, was the best cake I'd ever eaten. Mom always had the best recipes...

"So, Kelli, tell me honey...what would you like to do? Since I've come here to visit, I'll take you shopping where ever you'd like!"

"Oh I don't need anything! I just want to spend time with you!"

"That's so incredibly sweet hon...let's see..would you like to receive your graduation gift?"

"Oh, you didn't have to get me anything! Thanks gram!"

Grandma went to her suitcase and grabbed a brown bag out of it. It was small, about the size of my hand. She gave it to me with a huge smile on her face. I put my hand inside and pulled out a golden necklace, with a golden charm that had half of a sun on it. It was beautiful, but what was it? ...a friendship necklace? With my grandma?

"Grandma! It's beautiful! Um, so who has the other half? You?" I asked.

"No, darling, no one has the other half. There is no other half. No need to worry about the other half. Just focus on the beauty of the first half. It symbolizes the oblivion that we have in this world. We are always focusing on what is ahead of us and what is coming in the future. And as a result, we are unaware of the most important part of our lives - the present! And with your graduation coming up, I don't want you to be caught up with the idea of high school. I just want you to enjoy the present, and everything that is happening right now. Love you Kelli sweetheart."

I had the best and wisest grandmother in the world.

"Wow..you always know what to say, and you always say the right thing at the right time. Thank you so much grandma."

"Of course, darling!" My grandma said with a smile on my face. I turned to see my mother and she had the biggest smile on her face as well. She came to me and put my necklace on me.

What I didn't know was that that necklace held such an huge importance that would play a huge role in my life in the near future, when I would have thought that I had lost everything.
