Do I have to make a new book?
Yes. Please do not submit existing, previously written stories. We are only accepting one entry per user, so choose one prompt from each level wisely.
We are not accepting fanfiction or poetry.
Why is Fanfiction not accepted?
This contest is meant to be a celebration of authentic Asian & Pacific Islander culture. Fanfiction is typically fetishized dramatizations of Asian & Pacific Islander culture that do not accurately reflect their values and beliefs. The APIFantasy Team is committed to ensuring we do not feature stories that contain harmful representations of Asian & Pacific Islander cultures, while encouraging those not familiar with these cultures to conduct necessary research and ask questions if they're unsure about the API representation in their work(s).
Does it have to be 1,500 words and do I need to write a single chapter only?
Unless you have purchased an item from the Medicine Deity's Chamber and it has been verified by @APIFantasy, the word limit is that and not over. You are expected to write a new chapter for each Level. Author notes, playlists, book trailers, glossaries, or anything else non-literary does not count towards the maximum word count.
Prologues, epilogues, and bonus chapters will count, so use your words wisely!
How do I earn years of cultivation?
If you qualify for a Checkpoint, you will receive years of cultivation based on the total number of points you receive throughout the contest. That scoring system is outlined below and is based on our team's judging rubric:
Level 1: 12 Points or More = 1,000 years of cultivation
Level 2: 25 Points or More = 2,000 years of cultivation
Level 3: 37 Points or More = 4,000 years of cultivation
Level 4: 50 Points or More = 8,000 years of cultivation
Level 5: 62 Points or More = 16,000 years of cultivation
Level 6: 75 Points or More - 32,000 years of cultivation
