Mattia
I was enjoying every moment, but time was going by too damn fast. I had already missed so much within the year that I was absent from their lives, and it felt like I was missing even more if we were not together every second. Being together in London made me realize what I had been deprived off all my life.Growing up, there was not one moment that I lacked food, clothing, money or my social life. Yet, it always felt like something was missing; this was it. The size of our house did not make it a home and neither did the countless of material things we had laying around. This— my little family, I was sure of it; it was everything I would ever need to remain a happy man.
I was patiently standing at the end of the staircase, waiting for Nuelle to come down. Dom was waiting with me, dressed in a white dress-shirt and jeans, just as I was. It never occurred to me how much I would love having a tiny human mirror me. Nuelle came down, wearing a casual blue dress that complimented her tone. She had her hair loose, though knowing her she would have it up in a bun once we reached the restaurant.
"You guys look like twins," She gushed when she saw us. "Was this daddy's idea?" She looked at me with those seductive eyes.
I drew her closer to me until my lips reached her ear, "Don't look at me like that in front of our son," my hand slid down to her ass. "You look gorgeous." I planted a kiss on her cheek.
"Thank you."
"And daddy can't wait to take this dress off you later," I kissed her ear and turned on my heel to head for the front-door, leaving no window for her to react.
I had made dinner reservations at a new restaurant, owned by Franky, my foe turned ally. I did not consider him a friend back then and if I'm completely honest I still do not today. However, within the organization, one could always use an ally and one could always have one less foe.
Nuelle was frantically looking around us when we stepped into the restaurant. She was nervously clutching her bag with one hand and holding onto Dom with the other. Her eyes would constantly search for mine and I knew what she was thinking, she was worried that someone would recognize me.
"It's crowded in here." She mentioned, "We could do somewhere less busy."
I reached for her hand and intertwined my fingers with her, "No need for that. We're safe here." I assured her. "Besides, everyone's too busy with their own thing to even notice us."
The organization had people everywhere and since I became one of them, these people indirectly became my people too. Our connections are so widely ranged that it includes the authorities that held the power to wipe away any evidence they had on me in relation to the Rafael situations. And since The Aliance was the only family Rafael had, me not included, he had no one to avenge his death or seek justice for it.
My record had been cleaned and I was once again a free man, but my image was far from restored. I had no fear of being handcuffed and thrown in jail, that would not happen as they could not touch me. At least not as long as I served The Alliance, because The Alliance only serves its members if they serve it. We even have our grip on the mainstream media, but it was these independent news-reporters and self-proclaimed influencers that I had to worry about.
"Good evening, Mr. Mulaney." A waiter came to our table and placed the menus in front of us. At first glance I noticed that no prices were listed next to the different dishes, "Everything will be on the house, sir." He added when I was about to mention this.
"That's not necessary." I straightened myself.
"Courtesy of Mr. Franky. He said that he doesn't want to hear otherwise." The waiter backed away with his hands behind his back. Franky knew I would not agree to any of this. And one way or another I planned to pay him for this service.
