Surprise pt. 2

Lewis

I wanted to make Daniela happy. She deserves a happy life where she gets attention, care and love. She is really special. I made reservations at a very good and cozy restaurant for lunch. I invited quite a few people. Charles, Max, Carlos, Pierre, Lando, George, Daniel, their girlfriend's Alex, Kelly and her daughter Penelope, Rebecca, Kika, Carmen, Heidi and Seb so happened to be in Monaco. I know that she has been following F1 regularly but she hasn't watched a race since her father's accident. So I thought it would be nice to try and reconnect her with the sport. Of course I won't force her if she doesn't want to but I saw interest in her eyes at the Imola Grand Prix. Everyone is there already and waiting for us. After a ten minute drive we arrive the restaurant.

Daniela

We arrive at a cozy looking restaurant. We get out of the car and Lewis leads the way inside. He put his hands on my eyes and lead me forward. I almost fall but manage to steady myself.

,,Stop" says Lewis and removes his hands

I look at the table in front of me. Sixteen people are sat at the table. But not just people. Current drivers, their girlfriend's, kids, in this case Penelope and Sebastian Vettel. I am too stunned to speak. Not that I haven't seen them in real life but this is something different. I look at Lewis.

,,What is this?" I ask him

,,Your surprise. I hope you like it. Oh and I might have mentioned that your birthday wasn't long ago, so don't be surprised if they gift you something" he says

I hug him. It's really sweet of him and to be honest I would like to get to know the drivers and their girlfriend's. They seem really nice.

,,Thank you" I say to him

,,You're welcome kiddo" says Lewis

I sit down. I have Penelope on my left side and Lewis on my right. Lewis speaks up.

,,So this is Daniela, the child you have been seeing me with at the Imola Grand Prix. Dani say something" he says

,,Um, hi everyone it's nice to meet you" I say my anxiety giving me a kick of nervousness

There are some unfamiliar faces at the table but I soon learn their names. I see everyone take gift bags out.

,,What are those?" I ask

,,They are gifts for you" says Alexandra, Charlie's girlfriend

,,We may be a little late but still, we hope you like them" says Kelly

,,You didn't have to" I say

,, Doesn't matter now. Open them. I can't wait to see your reaction" say Penelope from my side

,,Ok, ok I will open them" I say and accept all the gift bags

From Charles and Alex I got three books. Secret history by Donna Tart, To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee and Crime and punishment by Dostoevsky. How the hell did they know I was wanting these books? It must have been Lewis. From Max, Kelly and Penelope I got CDs from the Smiths, Michael Jackson and also classical music. From Pierre and Kika I got a set for drawing and a sketchbook. Guess I will continue to sketch. From Carlos and Rebecca I got a custom chess set that looks awesome.

It looks gorgeous. From George and Carmen I got a big book about the Egyptian history. I am quite interested in the Egyptian history so I love it. From Daniel and Heidi I got an at home clay kit. I can't wait to try it out. And now Sebastian gives me his present. I look in the bag and see a turtle jelly cat.

I get tears in my eyes. I don't know how he picked it out but it brings back so many memories. I had one. The exact same one. My father bought it for me. I lost it when he crashed. I don't even take it out of the bag and stand up. I go to Sebastian and hug him, a few tears falling down my face. He seemed surprised by my sudden reaction but hugged me back.

,,Thank you" I say to him

,,You're welcome kiddo" he says and kisses my head

Out of the corner of my eye I see Lewis looking in the bag. Probably to see what made me so emotional. After a good long hug me and Sebastian separate. I sit back down and Lewis wipes away the tears that fell down my face.

,,Why are you sad? Don't you like Seb's gift?" asks Penelope

,,No, I'm not sad P. It just brings back memories" I say

,, Can I see the gift?" she asks

,,Yes, bere you go" I say and give her the bag

She takes the jelly cat out and inspects it. All eyes turn to the jelly cat and everyone starts to wonder what connection I have with it.

,,What memories does it bring back" asks P

,,Memories with my father and my mother" I say

,,Where are they?" asks P

,,They aren't here. But you can see them in the night sky" I say trying to be as gentle as possible because death isn't something P should worry about

,,What was their names?" asks P

,,Ayrton and Maria" I say

,,Dani what is your last name?" asks Kelly

,,Senna" I answer

Kelly's eyes widen. So does Seb's and the other girlfriends's.

,,You didn't know?" I ask

,,No, we didn't " says Kelly

,,I thought the others have told you. I mean it was in the media" I say

Kelly and the other girlfriends look at their boyfriends in a pretty scolding way because they haven't told them about me.
I hold back my laughter. The drivers quickly apologized to their girlfriends. The waiter arrived ready to take our orders. I ordered a Caesar salad and pizza margarita. I almost couldn't decide, there were so many options. I got a lemonade as a drink. The others ordered too and the waiter left to give our orders to the kitchen. We talked until the food came. From F1 to football to fashion to food to celebrities and so on. The food arrived after some waiting. My god it's so delicious. I was done pretty quickly with my food. I have never tasted anything like that before. After we ate we talked more until it was time to leave. We payed and left the restaurant. We bid our goodbyes and everyone went in their direction. Me and Lewis got in the car and he drove us home. I thought that was the surprise and nothing more. But boy was I wrong.
