Chuuya stayed still for a moment before he growled, dropping down quickly to check Dazai's broken leg. "Stupid Dazai..."

Dazai didn't seem to mind the insult. He was actually quite calm as pain lanced through his leg from the impact.

"It's all going to be fine, my dear Chuuya," he replied. His voice was gentle, but his smile was shaky as he looked at Chuuya. He felt the sudden need to make sure the ginger was there and took hold of his lover's hand, squeezing it. He had a bad feeling.

"Tch." Chuuya effortlessly picked up his partner, carrying him like a bride as he ran over to where he'd stashed equipment before arriving near Fyodor.

"We still need to get out to get the antidote while also making sure that Russian rat fucker dies."

The ginger got a cast and carefully put it on Dazai's broken leg, his face scrunching up. "There's no way he'll call our bond shallow and get away with it."

Dazai chuckled a little and wrapped his arms around Chuuya's shoulders, hugging him gently.

"I knew my brave Chibi wouldn't give up!" he commented with a soft smile on his face. He felt safe in Chuuya's arms, and honestly, that was all he needed despite the agonizing pain in his leg. He didn't feel safe anywhere else.

Chuuya scoffed, returning the hug like it was easier than breathing. He didn't reply to his husband's comment about 'Chibi,' instead helping Dazai to his feet. "Let's go give that rat what he deserves."

Dazai knew he could walk with the cast, but he really liked being held by Chuuya. Still, he knew the ginger would help him, so he was going to play the part.

"Lead the way, my love!" he said, his voice sweet but his smile anything but. The brunette couldn't wait to show Fyodor what they were truly capable of.

Chuuya was dying, and quickly. It was like Arahabaki was being outwardly influenced, making Corruption more powerful and deadly for both the victims and the gravity manipulator himself; the book had created a reality-altering net around Yokohama.

Chuuya had launched himself far ahead of Dazai before he could nullify his ability, coincidentally ending up where the singularity had been. Shin Soukoku--Atsushi and Akutagawa--collapsed to the ground side-by-side.

"Oh, grantors of dark disgrace... you need not wake me again."

Chuuya had activated Corruption.

Yet this time, he heard a deep and frightening voice he never usually heard during this state at the back of his mind, 'For this is the end.'

Dazai was too far behind, but he'd seen the redhead launch ahead of him and immediately started running faster. He ran as fast as his injured leg would allow him.

"Chuuyaaaa!" he called his partner's name, pushing himself to the brink of his endurance to get to Chuuya as soon as possible. That line was worrying to begin with and the brunette felt fear bubble up within him.

The sight of the singularity only made him panic more at the implication, but his main focus was getting to the ginger.

"Chuuya... please be okay..."

'Please...'

"Damn it!" the older Dazai slumped where he was seated, burying his face in his hands. "It's the same outcome, again..." His voice dragged into a whisper.

A copy of him wearing bandages on his left eye, the outer layer of his clothes discarded, watched him silently. He had a solution, and he'd already proposed it. It was the same thing he did with Odasaku in his universe; never appearing in his life.

But this was different. Too many things in their lives depended on each other, yet it was like they were simply meant to suffer. They couldn't just... stay apart.

BEAST Dazai rubbed at his face in resignation.

Their swap version watched them, cheek propped on his hand. If they stopped talking for a moment, he could give them his idea.

'Just meet early...'

He sighed, admiring Corruption in the physical realm all while biting his lip in worry.

Everything was in ruins.

"No... no no no no..." Dazai's mind echoed in a chant. He was close enough to Chuuya to see the ginger struggling.

"Chibi!" he ran closer, dropping to his knees beside him, his eyes wide with fear and concern.

"Chibi, I'm here!" he said, his voice firm but his hands shaking. He didn't want to lose him, not his most precious person.

This won't end well.

Fate had decided long ago that perfect halves creating a whole wouldn't be able to live within this unequal earth. Each soul was supposed to be separate.

Soukoku was always destined to die.

The brunette didn't want to accept it... but he couldn't let Chuuya suffer. He pulled Chuuya's body close to his, closing his eyes as a single, shaky hand pressed into Chuuya's hair, holding him loosely for comfort.

He hated that they always ended up like this, in pain, suffering, dying.

"I love you, Chuuya... so... so much..." he pressed his face against Chuuya's head, swallowing the lump in his throat, trying so hard not to cry.

The fifth time.

Osamu Dazai had gone through five time loops within the same universe using the book in order to fix a mistake he had made in his original universe. Yet, if fate refused to let them live, they would not.

That night was the last for the greatest partnership in history--together they fell along with the former city of Yokohama.

Dazai had always wished to die, his anchor to life being his partner. With his partner gone, he felt sick, feeling the life fading from his lover. Dazai knew Chuuya was gone.

He pulled his partner close, rocking them gently despite his own injuries or pain. He was going to die here too; he'd follow his beloved partner to the end no matter what.

His face was pressed against Chuuya's neck. The brunette closed his eyes as he tightened his grip on the ginger, his breathing shaky.

They may say 'Til death do us part...'

This wasn't the best ending, and neither felt good about their last words. Dazai was glad his last words were telling Chuuya that he loved him, something they both had struggled with.

He knew his other selves would try again, he was sure they would. Dazai and Chuuya would continue to love each other no matter what.

"You're mine," he whispered against Chuuya's skin. "Always and forever..."

...but in the case of a soul in two bodies, the soul is always meant to reunite anyway.

Their world faded, just like their souls slowly did. Dazai felt his life coming to an end, but he didn't struggle at all. If it was meant to be, he'd see Chuuya again--in another life.
