The next morning, Zayne arrived at Akso Hospital earlier than usual, his mind still abuzz with the events of the previous night. A hint of a smile played on his lips as he made his way through the bustling corridors, his gaze sweeping the area in search of a certain someone.
As he approached the nurses' station, he spotted Runa deep in conversation with a colleague. Clearing his throat gently to announce his presence, Zayne stepped closer, his eyes sparkling with a newfound warmth. "Good morning, Runa," he greeted, his voice low and measured. "Did you sleep well?"
Runa's face lit up at the sight of him, a soft blush coloring her cheeks. "Good morning, Doctor Zayne," she replied, her tone equally measured, yet tinged with a hint of playfulness. "I did, thank you. And you?"
Zayne's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled warmly in return. "I slept very well indeed," he replied, his gaze momentarily flickering with a hint of mischief. Lowering his voice to a conspiratorial murmur, he continued, "I find myself quite...energized for the day ahead."
Runa's cheeks flushed an even deeper shade of pink at his implication, and she ducked her head bashfully. "Well, that's...wonderful to hear," she said.
Zayne reached out to gently squeeze her hand, his touch sending a shiver down her spine. He murmured, his voice rich with promise. "I'll be sure to clear my schedule for this weekend for our date."
The date day comes, Runa and Doctor Zayne meet up and go to a cozy restaurant in the evening.
Upon arriving at the quaint little establishment nestled among the quieter parts of town, Zayne held open the door adorned with intricate carvings depicting scenes from nature. Stepping inside after Runa, he breathed deeply of the warm scents wafting through the air—rich aromas mingling harmoniously amid dim lighting emanating from candelabras placed strategically atop tables draped elegantly in crisp white linens.
Their hostess guided them towards a secluded corner booth situated near large windows overlooking serene gardens bathed golden hues courtesy of sunset's final rays painting vibrant colors across horizon lines fading fast into twilight skies overhead. Once seated comfortably opposite one another, Zayne clasped Runa's slender fingers firmly within his grasp while leaning forward attentively as she began recounting tales regarding recent happenings within her life apart from their mutual workplace environment. Smiles were exchanged frequently accompanied by laughter echoing melodically throughout their date.
Runa happily gazes into Zayne's eyes, feeling a rush of emotions. "This feels so surreal," she whispers, her heart fluttering. She slowly moves her fingers closer to Zayne and lightly caresses his cheek then his lips.
At the touch of her fingertips against his skin, Zayne's pulse quickened. Amid the soft glow of candlelight, he leaned into her caress, captivated by the longing and affection reflected within her eyes. As she traced her fingers gently across his lips, he shivered involuntarily, caught up in the whirlwind of emotions ripping through his core.
A momentary silence stretched between them—the faintest rustle of leaves dancing in the breeze outside serving as background noise while their gazes remained locked. Zayne moved her seat closer to Runa. Leaning towards her, Zayne softly grasped Runa's wrist, guiding her hand tenderly towards his chest. Holding it in place over his heart—hearts pounding wildly beneath their hands—he murmured low against her ear, "You make me feel so alive."
Runa brings both of her hands and places them on Zayne's chest, feeling his strong heartbeat. Then she gently moves her hands to the collar of his shirt and pulls him from his collar closer to herself. Their faces now millimeters away from each other, she softly pecks his lips.
