The Barton Girl

the meeting

i wake up suddenly and remember 

Shit

i really had fallen asleep

i get up and head for the door. i head for the living room.

I see all the people that were here earlier except that there's a new face.

a brunnete girl, my age. that must be penny.

i walk over and awkwardly smile at her before i see maria and natasha make room for me and sit down between them.

"How was your nap, sweet girl?" Natasha said as she pulled my hair that was in my face behind my ears

"it was good, thank you" i said smiling up at her

"here come on let me introduce you to some, you'll like her, you two can be friends" pepper whispered to the brunette

"okay" the brunette said as she followed the blonde over to where i was

"Hey sweetie, this is my daughter Penelope, Penny this is katerina, she's going to be staying with us" pepper said as penelope smiled at me

"Hi, nice to meet you" i said as i pulled my hand out to greet her

"nice to meet you too, you can call me penny, if you'd like" she said as i nodded

i could tell that she was the kind to be timid, she was shy, but i could tell she was kind. And not the fake kind, real good ol' kind. we moved down to the ground.

"So, you're seven right? i'm eight. are you in school? are you going to start school?" she said somewhat slowly, faking a break after each sentence

"Yes, i'm seven, i did home schooling but i haven't been doing it for a couple months." i said as i noticed nat made eye contact with maria as i mentioned school

"maybe you could go to my school, Ms. Lynch is really nice!" she said 

"Where is it?"

"It's down the road, Midtown Manhattan Private School" 

"oh, maybe" i said

Private School, Ughh

We moved back to our spots, me in between maria and Nat, her in between pepper and Tony. 

i tried to watch what was on the tv, but i kept on feeling eyes on me, from the corner of my eye i can see Clint's eyes over at me. When i looked over he looked away, his eyes back at the Tv. Why was he staring at me.

*Hours Later*

Tony, Pepper, and Penny had already left. so had steve, bruce, maria, Thor. Maria had to shower, they had some party up in the bar. so they had to shower and get ready. Nat had left to go to the bathroom. i was pretending to be asleep. hopefully to get intel on why Clint kept staring. 

I heard him dialing in someone number, he was calling someone.

"Hey Laura"

"Something weird is happening, Natasha met this little girl, and i swear...she looks like Catherine... or like you" he said 

i heard someone on the other like but couldn't make out what they said

"we always said how she was starting to look like you." he said before the other person replied

"i know, i know, i must be going crazy" he said

"katerina....i know, it's very similar, but i don't know, it just seems too crazy to actually be her"

"oh i have to go" he said as nat came back out

"who was that, Laura?"

"yea"he said sounding like he's smiling,
