"You have a crushh" Kelly teased with a huge smile on her face. "I just met her there's no way" I replied shaking my head. I decided to tell her about my situation with Aaliyah. I had no one else to tell and I also needed a ride to the mall.
"Not once have you ever gotten butterflies around someone." She said. "Especially because you can be so stubborn sometimes, i'm surprised".
"I just can't imagine myself liking someone in that kind of way. I've been through so much to the point where I force myself to not like anyone, and I try to get people to not like me" I sighed. "She's just always been so nice to me and defended me even though I act like a complete bitch towards her." I continued.
"Don't let your past effect your future, Brandy. Your past doesn't define you. You shouldn't let your past ruin the relationships you can build now. Stop letting the negativity get in your head" Kelly replied caressing my hand.
"I love you, Brandy" She said before pulling me into a hug. I laid my head on her shoulder and let my tears flow.
It was the little moments like these that meant a lot to me. I know I can be really vile towards my sister but I truly do love her.
"Stop crying and go get ready for your date" She smiled wiping the tears off my face. "It's not a date" I rolled my eyes walking out of her room.
I had trouble trying to find a outfit since I never usually dressed up. "Kelly!" I shouted. Not even a minute after I called her, she ran into the room. "I knew you'd ask me for help" She clapped her hands excitedly. I rolled my eyes at her antics before stepping in front of the mirror. "This would be cute" She handed me a orange tube top. I made a disgusted face, "I'm not putting that on my body".
"It's cute, it'll define your curves more" She held it up against my chest. "Whatever" I snatched it from her. After a while of trying on outfits, we finally settled on one. We chose a orange tube top with black bootcut leggings. For shoes we picked based black heels and a cute purse to match. Now it was time for hair and makeup. "You're so pretty, you don't even need makeup" Kelly smiled as she moved my braids behind my ears, "You look just like me" She continued. I was never good with compliments and had trouble responding to them; so I usually never did. She did a natural makeup look on me since I didn't want heavy makeup. And for hair she did a updo style.
"My gorgeous little sister" Kelly wore a proud smile as we looked in the mirror together. I guess I looked okay, I wasn't really used to seeing myself so dressed up. "Ok, let's get you going before you're late" She grabbed my arm and dragged me downstairs.
The second we entered the kitchen, my mother and Robert looked in our direction. A lustful smile grew on Roberts face as he looked at me. The ways he looked at me made me feel dirty in a way. "Isn't she so pretty?" Kelly spun me around. "Definitely." Robert rubbed his hands together. "You look like a tramp" My mother rolled her eyes. I hope someday she stopped hating on me so much. "Don't call her that" Kelly spat back. "I mean, i'm not lying. She looks like a slut" My mom continued. "Can we just go?" I crossed my arms, letting the annoyance be heard in my voice. "Oh yeah! My bad" Kelly and I exited the house.
