I can't believe it has been a week since I updated. I am so sorry. Things have been really busy and I had a small case of writer's block at the beginning of this chapter. The story is still a little slow paced at the moment but is gradually building back up to the drama. Be patient. I hope you enjoy this chapter!

[Dante's POV]
I sat my phone down, rubbing my temples. Marcus still wasn’t picking up his phone and I was worried. I had been calling him all night but it kept going straight to voicemail. Hopefully Marcus wouldn’t do something stupid. Maybe he’s just having some alone time, but school is about to start. I guess I’ll just see him in the band room when I get to school. I grabbed my phone and stood up from the living room sofa to head out to the bus stop. The bus was coming so I jetted across the street and stood by the post just in time to board the bus.
I quickly got off the bus and walked into the school heading straight for the band room. When I entered the room, I only found Kelsey and Mr. Howard talking. Marcus was nowhere in sight.
“Hey Dante.” Kelsey said with a small smile.
“Good morning Dante.” Mr. Howard chimed in. I waved to them both and shot them a smile.
“Did Marcus get here yet?” I asked, still looking around the room hoping that Marcus would magically come out of thin air.
“Haven’t seen or heard from him. His phone has been going straight to voicemail.” Kelsey replied. Mr. Howard gave me a look of reassurance. He gave such a comforting smile.
“Marcus is an extremely emotional person. You have to take into account that everything that has happened in the past few day are eating at him in ways we cannot even fathom. But I know Marcus is a strong young man and wouldn’t do something stupid.” Mr. Howard said. Kelsey simply nodded to confirm what he said. In other words, he probably wouldn’t be coming until he actually had to report to class.
“Run through this song with me?” Kelsey asked, handing me a sheet of music. I nodded and looked it over before going to get my trumpet and sitting down next to her. We played the song at least 3 times before moving on to other things. Suddenly, I couldn’t believe my eyes when Marcus walked in the room.
“MARCUS!” I practically jumped out of my seat and hugged him. Marcus froze and soon pulled out of my hold.
“Yeah, I’m here…” He replied with no enthusiasm. Kelsey gave me a look that made me wince. I know I was a little over the top but I was happy to know Marcus was OK. I regained some coolness and just walked back to my seat in a nonchalant manner. Marcus went into the instrument room after greeting Mr. Howard, coming back out quickly with his clarinet in hand. He seemed to be out of it and just ignored us after a while. It hurt a little but I know he’s going through something, I guess.
First period was beginning to come to an end and it’d soon be time to head to our 2nd hour classes. I put my instrument in its case and headed for the instrument storage room. Marcus was quietly leaning against some cabinets when I entered the room. His eyes remained low and from my guess, he was deep in though. I placed my trumpet in the cabinet and turned to face Marcus. Hey, I just need to talk to him.
“Hey Marcus.” I said softly. He looked at me and remained silent for a moment.
“Dante.” Marcus said simply.
“Is everything alright? Your phone was going straight to voicemail all last night and this morning.” I asked.
“Besides being heartbroken, depressed and betrayed, I’ve been just peachy. Nothing could possibly be wrong.” He replied with sarcasm heavy in his voice. Ouch. That kind of hurts. But I guess I should’ve expected that.
