I'm doing better than I ever was for the past year.

Or at least, that's what I like to tell myself. It's easier to pretend that nothing is wrong than admitting that it isn't.

I sighed, my chin rested on my arms against the edge of the pool habang tahimik na tinatanaw ang overlooking view sa harap. It's still very early in the morning, but there were already a few yachts sailing at Monaco's bright blue coast.

I swam a few more laps around the infinity pool bago napagdesisyunan na umahon na. Large drops of water pooled around me at mabilis kong inabot sa tabi ang puting roba na para sa akin. A butler waiting at the corner handed me a smaller towel kaya ginamit ko iyon para tuyuin ng bahagya ang aking buhok.

"Shall we serve your breakfast here or at your room, Miss?"

Nilingon ko si Trinity na nakahiga pa rin sa kanyang sun lounger at mukhang wala pang balak na tumayo.

I smiled at the butler, "Here, please. Merci."

"Bien sur, mademoiselle."

I wrapped the robe tighter around me at nilakad ang distansya sa kaibigan. Trinity pulled her sunglasses down at tinignan ako ng makaupo ako sa katabi nitong sun lounger.

"Your cousin called. Kanina pa nagriring eh kaya sinagot ko na. He said to call him back."

Kumunot ang noo ko at napaayos ako ng upo, "Rhysand? Did you ask why?"

Madalas naman talaga tumawag ito, kung hindi naman ay siya mismo ang pumupunta dito para bisitahin ako. We've both been really busy lately, kaya hindi kami masyado nakakapag-usap - madalas ay sa chat na lang so I find it unusual for him to demand that I call him back kapag hindi ko nasagot ang tawag niya.

"No. Your cousin sounds scary kaya um-oo na lang ako."

Pinulot ko ang aking cellphone na nasa lamesa kung saan may iilang inumin pang nakahanda roon.

Rhysand:

Have you talked to Hades?

I sighed, suddenly feeling so stressed dahil sa simpleng tanong na iyon. I'm not a heavy drinker, and I don't normally drink alcohol so early in the morning lalo na at hindi pa ako nakakapag-almusal pero ngayon, pakiramdam ko ay kailangan ko nito. I quickly sipped on my margarita at sandaling natulala.

So much for a relaxing morning!

I quickly downed my drink bago nagpasyang tumayo at pumunta sa malayong parte ng pool deck. There were already a few people around who recognized me, natagalan pa dahil sa mga bati at pakikipag-usap.

'You're up early.' Puna ni Rhysand ng sagutin ang tawag ko.

Tumikhim ako at bahagyang napairap, "Good morning din. I'm doing well, thanks for asking."

Humalakhak ito.

"And I have a race later. Anyway, Trinity said you called?"

'Yes. Have you seen the news?'
