I'm trying not to let it show, that I don't want to let this go.
Is there somewhere you can meet me?

And you clutched my brain and eased my ailing."Is There Somewhere" by Halsey

Chapter Twenty: Is There Somewhere
The first day back at school wasn't anything special. I mean, besides my new relationship, nothing has really changed. I was still me, and Everett was still Everett. As I got up on a the first day back to school, I realized how tired I was, but I wasn't upset about. I sat at the end of my bed, smiling at the memories of the night before. Even though it hadn't been all that of romantic date, or really a date at all, it still was something that I could keep on my mind for a while.
When I got up, I decided it wasn't really worth getting all that dressed up for. I went with a simple outfit that consisted of a loose light blue long sleeved shirt, white shorts, and black vans. I braided my hair before putting on makeup and some simple jewelry. Before long, I was downstairs and grabbing breakfast. As I was pouring myself a bowl of cereal, my phone went off. I grabbed it, and saw that Everett had texted me.
Mind letting me in? It read, and I got up from my seat and made my way to the front door. When I opened it, there was Everett in all his glory, two coffees in his hands.
"Good morning?" I said, a questioning look on my face. I wasn't really expecting him to show up at my house. "What are you doing here?" He began to follow me as I walked back to the kitchen to finish my breakfast. I sat back onto the stool I was sitting on at the counter, and Everett situated himself across from me, passing the coffee as he sat down.
"Is it a crime that I want to drive my girlfriend to school?" He said, a smirk situating itself on his face.
"What's wrong with me driving my own car?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Because I'm like, eighty five percent sure that boyfriends are supposed to do that, sunshine," he replied, leaning over the countertop.
"Well, all I know is I have to drive because you have practice tonight and I am not going to watch a bunch of sweaty guys run around a field," I replied, finishing my breakfast and putting my dish away.
"Since I'm already here, I'll just go with you know and have one of the guys drop me off here after practice," he said, and I nodded.
"Just let go brush my teeth, okay?" I said, heading upstairs and then coming back down when I was ready to go. He followed me out to the car, and we both got in. I immediately plugged my phone in and as the car started, "Bad Dream" by The Mowglis started blasting. I threw on my sunglasses, before pulling out of the driveway, a smile spread across my face.
Once we had got to school, there was only about ten minutes before classes started. I turned to Everett, who was already getting his stuff together. "I've got to go talk to coach before class, but I'll see you at lunch?" He said, and I leaned across the center console to press a kiss to his lips.
"See you later," I said, smiling and getting out of the car. As I was making my way towards the school building while he was heading towards the field, I heard him yell, "See ya, sunshine!" I swear the smile didn't leave my face for a while.

"Why are you so smiley?" Evie asked, bumping my shoulder with her own. We were sitting in chemistry, having a work day to finish any assignments that we needed to do. I had told her about what had happened on New Years, and she had nearly screamed out of joy. She went on for about an hour talking about how she "shipped us so hard" and were "meant to be"."I'm just... happy?" I said. So far the day had gone pretty well, and I wasn't going to let anything bring me down. I had talked to Heather this morning, and had a good conversation with her. She wasn't upset that I was dating Everett so soon after they had broken up, but she was actually happy. She kind of knew how he felt about me, and she was glad he was happy. "Is that a crime?" I asked Evie, raising an eyebrow.
"Not at all," she said. She sighed to herself then, staring into space. "Everyone in our group is dating someone, and here I am, a single lonely pringle."
"You'll find someone," I said, giving her side hug. I decided to take the opportunity to tease her a little bit. "Maybe that someone is my brother."
"Shut up," she replied, her cheeks turning pink. "He lives in California, it could never work."
"You never know," I said, and decided to drop the bombshell Landon himself had told me when we were in Colorado. "He might possibly be transferring to UTSA and moving in with me."
"Are you playing a trick on me?" she asked, genuinely concerned. "He didn't mention anything when I was texting him last week." Her eyes widened when she realized what she had just said.
"You were the girl he was texting the whole week!" I accused. She looked as if I might kill her at any second. "Chill out, I'm not mad that your into him. Just don't do anything gross while I'm around."
"You're amazing, Kenna," she said, pulling me into a hug.
"I know, I know," I said, laughing.
"Everett's cockiness is rubbing off on you, isn't it?"
