[author's pov]

*AFTER 2 DAYS*

{On call}

Inaya: Ugh, talking to him is so hard!

Oporna: Come on, girl! You got this! Just start the conversation!

Inaya: No way! If he talks first, then maybe I'll consider it. But all he does is stare at me when I'm not looking and look away when I catch him. He talks to everyone except me. It's so frustrating!

Oporna: Why is he ignoring you? Ugh, boys!

Inaya: I'm starting to dislike him, honestly.

Oporna: No, no, no! Don't go there! What if he thinks the same about you? What if he thinks you're ignoring him too? Maybe he's waiting for you to make a move!

Inaya: Well, he's always hanging out downstairs at my uncle's house. My parents are being nice to him while he's down there.

Oporna: Hmm, that's kinda rude. Forget about him! Let's talk about your birthday plans! Party!?

Inaya: No way! It's Ramadan and Shab-e-qadr too!

Oporna: Oh, you're so lucky! Your birthday falls on such a special day!

Inaya: Yeah, Alhamdulillah. Okay, I gotta go now. Need to have my suhoor.

Oporna: Alright, good night!

*on the dining table*

(Inaya was sitting at the dining table, enjoying her suhoor with everyone when out of nowhere, Ayan, Zaara, and Anaya began discussing her upcoming birthday. The room was filled with excitement and anticipation as they brainstormed ideas for the perfect celebration. Inaya couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm, feeling grateful for the love and thoughtfulness of her cousins and sibling)

"I can't wait for Inaya's birthday! Let's hit up that restaurant. Oh wait, what was the name again?" Ayan bhai exclaimed, all hyped up.

"Duh! It's called 'Arsh'!! How forgetful!" Zaara remarked, looking unimpressed.

"What birthday? It's Ramadan and Shab Qadr too! No celebrations," my mom pointed out.

"Oh, right... we totally spaced on that," Ayan bhai admitted, feeling a tad downcast.

(However, their excitement was short-lived as they suddenly realized that tomorrow is Shab-e-Qadar, one of the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar. It is a night of immense spiritual significance, believed to be better than a thousand months. The realization hit them like a wave, and they exchanged disappointed glances.)

Oops, they seem a bit let down. Eh, nothing I can do about it. But you know what? I'm not a fan of birthday celebrations, so it's all good!!

*After suhoor*

After finishing my suhoor, I snuggled into bed and decided to check my social media.

''Oh my goodness!'' i exclaimed.

I was flooded with birthday wishes and DMs! It's like all of my classmates, seniors, cousins, and juniors, remembered my special day. They're posting about me in their stories and sending me the sweetest, most heartfelt paragraphs. How adorable! I am so thankful for all of my amazing friends and cousins.

As I scroll through my feed, I see posts from friends reminiscing about our funniest moments together, sharing embarrassing photos from our childhood, and expressing how much they cherish our friendship. I can't help but tear up at the sweet sentiments and the genuine love that surrounds me.
