Prompt:
Winter had always dreaded middle school. Overweight and shy, she was an easy target for bullies. The worst of them all was Karina, the stunningly beautiful blonde who made Winter's life a living nightmare. Karina's taunts and cruel pranks left Winter in tears more times than she could count.
Years passed, and with high school came a transformation. Winter had shed her insecurities along with the extra weight. Confident and radiant, she was ready to leave the painful memories behind and start fresh.
However, fate had other plans. On the first day of high school, Winter's heart skipped a beat as she spotted a familiar figure down the hallway—Karina. She was even more breathtakingly gorgeous than before, but the sight of her sent a chill down Winter's spine. Memories of the torment flooded back, and Winter felt her newfound confidence waver.
Karina, on the other hand, had changed in ways Winter couldn't see. Though she wore the same confident facade, she carried a heavy burden of regret. Karina had never meant to hurt Winter; she had bullied her because she was helplessly infatuated and didn't know how to express her feelings. The sight of Winter's tear-streaked face had always filled her with guilt, but she couldn't stop herself.
Now, seeing Winter transformed and more beautiful than ever, Karina felt a mix of awe and dread. She knew she had ruined any chance of a friendship—or more—back in middle school. But as Winter turned to leave, Karina's heart ached with the longing to make things right."Winter, wait," Karina called out, her voice tinged with both hope and fear. Winter turned, her expression guarded, as Karina took a deep breath, ready to confront the shadows of their past and reveal the feelings she had kept hidden for so long.
