The wind was blowing softly, the sun high above bright- a perfect day to be out swimming with friends, having a nice ice cream, or even just putting an AC in a window to try and beat the heat. to most that is, however this world isn't 'to most' anymore.  In the distance a soft groan was heard, then another. after a moment, the groaning stops. "I fucking hate this, especially in the heat." Payton mumbled, wiping her forehead to dispose of the blood splatter. "Is it bad that I can't wait for winter?" Steven grumbled, he crouched down to see if there was anything useful in the Zombies pockets- of course there wasn't but there was no harm In  checking. "Do you not remember how winter was for us a while ago?" Brandon said, taking a step to the side- glancing around the street. "I found something." Jace's voice piped up, the others turned their head towards the tall male. It took a moment but they finally saw it, a horde of zombies slowly moving through the city. "We need to get moving." Jace mumbled, cringing at the sight. "We barely got any supplies.." Brandon grumbled looking at the almost empty bag, Payton sighed before kicking the corpse. "goddamnit." She muttered, Steven stood swiftly- getting ready to run. Jace turned, rushing for the back way we came. The others began rushing, watching their steps.

They made it to their hideout, Brandon throwing the backpack to the side angrily. He groaned in annoyance and covered his face with his hands. Jace made sure to cover the small place back up- making sure no zombies could get in. "What the absolute fuck do we do now?" Jace said panicked, he pushed the last heavy box in front of the door. "I don't know, I've never seen something like this before!" Brandon shouted, seemingly upset. "Okay let's not shout-" Payton was cut off by Brandon, "Not shout? you want me to not shout-? After seeing that mess?!" he paced, seemingly panicked. "I get we are all panicking, but we have to deal with this with a level head." Steven said, trying his best to calm the situation down. "Look, I don't know about you all but we need to move now." Payton said, taking a few steps further into the small barely lit place. "You've been on about that for ages Payton, give it a rest- what we have here works." Brandon snapped, turning to her. "Maybe she is right this time." Jaces voice cut through, he was now standing close to Steven. Payton looked over at Jace with a thankful look, Steven sighed. "I agree, Brandon, we need to pack up and leave as soon as we can." he turned as soon as he started talking to pack as much as he could in his tattered blue backpack. Payton looked to the side before also walking to her things, packing up what she could. "Where do we go then?" Brandon asked, still anger in his voice yet he also began packing. That's when Jace felt it was okay to pack, once we all were. "I... don't know." Payton said softly, her hands moving to pack the important things in her tattered black backpack and small black satchel. There was even more silence. A few minutes passed before someone spoke up, "At least we will be together.." Jace said trying to lighten the mood. "That is true, we have lasted this long." Steven said, a bit of hesitance in his voice. "Somehow." he mumbled at the end.

The cover for their small base moved, being cast to the side since they wouldn't return. "So, which way do we start wandering..?" Steven asked, looking from side to side- the city was mostly rubble and corpses, a horrible smell everywhere. "I say we go a way we haven't gone far yet." Payton said, Turing to the side and pointing at the horizon. "We could but last time we went there were too many zombies.." Steven thought for a moment, his hand reaching above his eyes to block the sun. That was true, last time they all ventured that way to try and raid the old run down Walmart. They almost got bitten trying, luckily they made it out- there were many zombies running the place over. "I almost got bit, and gained a scar in the process." Jace said unsure, shivering at the thought. "Yeah, but if I am correct this way leads us further down in the states- the winters won't be as harsh." Payton clarified, she then turned to the others with a small smile. "But whatever we agree on." "I think we should, Payton is right about the winters getting less harsh that way." Steven changed his mind, agreeing with the statement. "Are we all agreed?" they all nodded, walking down the rubble.
