A day had passed since Brandon was gone, no one dared talk about it. The group kept pushing on, they'd gotten pretty far. Steven took the death pretty hard, though he'd never show it. never. "When are we going to stop?" Jace asked, his voice shaky. "Not until we find a safe place to hold up, we can't stop." Steven's voice was cold and blunt, he was the one in front of everyone. "You know... you've been very on edge recently.." Payton mumbled, worried about her friend. It's true, he has been on edge since they ran- since Brandon.. died. "Why wouldn't I be?" Steven said as if it was fine, which it was- it's good to be on alert- yet it's more than normal, it was sort of scaring them. "I was just worried that..." Payton continued, although she slowly trailed off- scared to say it. Rustling took the chance for Steven to reply away, not that he minded. Jace pulled out his compound bow, aiming it at the ready. Steven got ready to pull out his weapon while Payton rested her hand on her gun. The air was crisp and louder than before, although that was probably due to the silence. It took a few moments before a rabbit jumped out of the bushes, Jace took action and sent an arrow flying- successfully hitting it. "Well- food I guess?" Jace mumbled, walking over to rip out the arrow. The rabbit was struggling, still somehow alive. Payton glanced at Steven who swiftly put on a smirk, "Nice Jace- we've got a bit of meat." he complimented.

It had been a while since they all had a real conversation, they all felt too awkward with how each other were acting. Jace sat on a log, Payton was in a corner cleaning her gun, Steven was roasting the meat Jace caught. The group was sticking with the plan to keep pushing on, trying to beat the herd of zombies. "I miss him." Payton mumbled, her gaze still fixated on the gun. Steven's movements got more aggressive as he rotated the rabbit meat. "I do too." Jace mumbled, looking over at Payton. "Shut up." Steven mumbled, not looking away from the meat. "It's over, he is gone, let it rest." Steven's voice was cold, distant. Payton glanced at Steven then to Jace, who also looked at her with a worried expression. "He may be gone but-" "Shut up! I've had it- I don't want to hear about him anymore!" Steven shouted, Jace looked around making sure no zombies heard- although that was met with a thud being heard. Jace looked at the direction of the sound, finding Payton knocked out on the ground slumped over. Steven reached for a weapon when another thud was heard- Steven was out cold. Jace pulled up his bow successfully and tried to hide behind a tree when he tripped over the log- one last thud.

"Well, well, looks like we've caught some new recruits." A voice was heard as the three woke up- immediately they struggled only to find they were restrained. "I recognize that one-" "Say nothing, she won't recognize them so we use it as a second chance." Payton looked up, seeing a tall man with icy blonde hair. The man glanced over at her, a smile gracing his face- which almost could be seen as a smirk. "Welcome back to consciousness! We want to welcome you to-" "Screw off." Steven snapped, cutting the man off. "We don't want to be welcomed anywhere." "I might-" Jace started saying as he looked the man up and down, "shut it!" Steven hissed before refocusing. "Sadly, you've got no choice. I am Ryder, this is my right hand Bokuto." Ryder says, motioning to Bokuto- he has ash white hair and thick ass eyebrows (he caught a stray). "You will go through the initiation process as soon as we've gotten you sworn to our cause and-" "Screw off!" Steven shouted, Payton cowered at the scene- not knowing what to make of it. Bokuto took a step forward, ready to hit Steven- Ryder put an arm in front, stopping him. "In due time, Bokuto." Ryder smirked, laughing slightly. He circled the three before grabbing Payton's chin and forcing her to look up at him- "In due time..." He mumbled, Steven was able to just kick Ryder- he hissed in pain. "I detest people like you." Ryder grumbled, he brushed his vest off before leaving with Bokuto.

"They said they recognized one of us." Jace mumbled, looking between Steven and Payton. "I don't know these people.." Payton mumbled, they both looked at Steven. "You think I know them?" Steven scoffed, "Do you know them Jace?" "No!" "well you seemed pretty keen on how one of them looked-" "And? he was hot! Doesn't mean I know them! He grabbed Payton's chin!" Payton cut in, "Hey! I didn't ask for that! I don't know these people-" "Okay- okay- let's not fight. we need to get out of here." Steven made sure to focus everyone to the main priority. Payton looked around, the room seemed a bit beaten up- but what wasn't? It's the apocalypse. There were tiled small showers, as if it were a locker room to something. Steven looked at the walls, not finding any school logos. Jace tried struggling out of his wrist ropes, his wrists turning red from the friction. "there" Payton whispered, trying to bob her head in the direction of a small window with a grate- they could squeeze through if they could get it open.  "How do we get out of the restraints?" "And how do we get our stuff back?" Payton spoke up swiftly, "There's an area we can get our things back right outside the door if we can plan an attack as soon as they open the door." Steven and Jace stare at her, "You sure you aren't the person they-" "I'm sure! I saw it on the way in, I woke up for a moment and they ended up knocking me out again- that's not the point!" Steven and Jace exchanged a look before Steven brought his hands up, he got the ropes off. "How-" "I'm just amazing." Steven mumbled as he rushed to untie the others. Payton touched her wrists, getting used to having them free. Jace frowned at the red marks he made prior, Steven swiftly began looking around the room for a make shift weapon- which was difficult. There were soft doorsteps coming down where the main door was, a set of stairs to the right outside of it like a basement. "Shit shit fuck-" Jace panicked a bit, he opened a locker finding a small glass- probably alcohol from before. Payton and Steven hid on the wall the door was on, making sure to not be seen as Jace hid on the other side of the door. It opened and Jace hit the person upside the head, the glass shattering. It was Bokuto- they didn't think twice before taking the gun on his side belt, and a pack of bullets, before rushing up the stairs and grabbing what they could of their things.

"We've gotta just run out of here, forget escaping through the holding place." Payton said as she heard an alarm sound, Steven thought for a moment before hearing thuds- people running. "Yeah yeah let's go-" Jace whipped around and he quickly scanned the place before finding a boarded up exit door- an exit sign above it. "There." Jace grabbed the others arms and pulled them a long, "there! They are getting away!" As soon as the voice was heard Payton didn't think twice and stuck her knife between the boards, ripping the four off. Steven kicked the door open and off they went- dodging zombies as best as possible.

"Run boy run, this world is not made for you"

Steven couldn't think- the only thing he wanted was to get away. His feet pattered against the slippery ground, it rained?

"Run boy run, they are trying to capture you.."

Jace kept pushing, initiation? What kind of initiation?

"Run boy run, running is a victory"

Payton prayed her knee wouldn't pop in and out, she didn't ever want to go back there.

"Run boy run, beauty lies behind the hills-"

The rain made the ground slick, the three kept pushing through it- Jace got knocked over by a zombie- Steven grabbed his arm and drug him along until he got up.

"Run boy run, the sun will be guiding you"

The sun was no where to be seen, the clouds filled the sky- was it even daytime at all?

"Run boy run, they're dying to stop you.."

Bullets were fired from behind them, skimming Jace's arm- his soaked pink shirt ripping.

"Run boy run, this race is a prophecy-"

The group felt safe as they stopped hearing bullets, they don't know how long they'd been running for. This felt new, thrilling- fateful.

"Run boy run, break out of society"

Payton stumbled, tripping on air- the others sliding down the small mud hill- only to be met face to face with new guns.
