"Ouch!" You cried, staring into the large illuminating screen in front of you, the only source of light in the dim room.
"Oh man, that must've hurt," Kenji replied, pulling you closer as you grabbed a handful of popcorn, munching away. It was 1 AM, and neither of you had plans to sleep anytime soon, especially with a mountain of snacks to finish.
"Hey," he murmured, his voice a gentle rumble against your ear. "Having fun?"
You turned to him with a smile, your heart swelling with affection. "Yeah, I am. This is perfect."
Kenji's smile was warm and genuine, his eyes soft as he brushed a stray strand of hair from your face. "Good. Because I'm having the best time just being here with you." He kissed you gently on the forehead before returning his attention to the movie, leaving you blushing.
As the movie unfolded, you enjoyed each other's company in comfortable silence, occasionally sharing whispered comments and laughs at the funny scenes. Kenji's arm was around you, pulling you closer as you both lounged on the couch, wrapped in a cozy blanket against the late-night chill.
