Responsibilities That Don't Involve You

I felt like I was drowning in confusion and rejection. Justin had left Devro without even telling me? Did his decision to leave have anything to do with me? I couldn't shake off the feeling that I'd been blind to something obvious, something that had been staring me right in the face.

But then I remembered Courtney's words, her smug smile, and her condescending tone, taunting me with the fact that she knew Justin better than I did. She had been hinting at something bigger, something that went beyond their past relationship.

I stormed to Courtney's dorm, my mind racing with questions and doubts. What did she know about Justin's secrets? And why was she being so cryptic?

When I arrived at her dorm, I found her lounging on her bed, her phone in hand, and a look of amusement on her face. "Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Looking for answers little homewrecker?"

I gritted my teeth, trying to keep my anger in check. "What do you know about Justin leaving, Courtney? Tell me the truth."

Courtney raised an eyebrow, her smile growing wider. "Oh, Caroline... you have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. Justin's life is more complicated than you think. And I'm not going to spill his secrets for him."

I felt a surge of frustration, my hands clenching into fists. "Tell me, Courtney! What's going on? Why did he leave Devro without telling me?"

Courtney leaned back in her chair, a taunting glint in her eye. "Let's just say... Justin has a lot of responsibilities, Caroline. Responsibilities that don't involve you."

I gritted my teeth, my mind racing with possibilities. What responsibilities could Justin have that would send him packing without a word?

But then I remembered something - Justin had shared his location with me a few days ago, when he had planned a surprise date. If he hadn't switched it off I could still find him.

Without another word, I turned and marched out of Courtney's dorm, determined to talk to Justin and learn the truth. It was time to take matters into my own hands and get the answers I needed.
