"You know what our theme song is?" Chelsea asked, chugging the rest of a beer.
I laughed. "What?"
"I can transform yaaaa," she winked, buzzed, and threw the bottle into the trashcan.
"I think drinking before a school-sponsored event is pretty transformable," I grinned.
"Just look in the mirror," she rolled her eyes.
I did as she said.
I turned and saw she'd curled my chestnut hair, and put me a snug yellow dress made from tight fitting stretchy fabric. She'd put silver glittery eye shadow above my eyes, and lots of mascara on my eyelashes. It wasn't too much, but it definitely was enough. I turned to her and she shoved sparkly heels at me. "Here, they'll match your eyes."
I blushed. "Um, I'll end up being way taller than him..."
She rolled her eyes and took the heels, only to disappear to my closet. "Silly me, I forgot."
I laughed as she turned around with a pair of my silver sparkly sandals. "Better?"
"Much," I nodded, and slipped them on. "Now on to you, Chelsea. What do you want to do with your hair?"
"Just straighten it, I'm going to change into my dress," she said, reaching for her blue dress. I turned away to unplug the curling iron and plug in the straightener.
"You know, Logan and I are going to color coordinate," Chelsea told me, and I turned around. She slid into the chair in front of my dresser, and started dabbing on foundation. I started thinking about Jason. I kind of wanted to color coordinate with him and be cute too...
Jason texted me. I reached over to pick up my phone. 'Fifteen minutes until I get to see you :)' it read. My heart actually sped up at the text message. What did that mean? I dismissed it, and set my phone back down and tried to actually pay attention to what Chelsea was saying. "You know? I'm just so glad Logan and I got together this year. He's treating me really well and everything."
"That's good," I mumbled, not really paying much attention. I was excited to see Jason, wasn't I? Why? I really didn't have any reason to. Okay, maybe it's because he likes Elvis. I like anyone who likes Elvis because I'm a fangirl like that. I need to stop.
"Hello? Ali?" Chelsea asked. I snapped my attention back to her.
"Yes?" I replied.
"We need to be there in like ten minutes," she said, nodding her head, her eyes wide.
"Oh, right," I stood up, grabbed my purse, and Chelsea followed me as we went down to get my mom.
"Mom," I called, and began tapping my foot as I became nervous. Okay, I've seen him twice. And we both like swimming... and Elvis. We have two things in common so far. Why am I freaking out so much?
"Ready, darlings?" she asked with a smile and Chels and I both nodded.
She grabbed her camera bag. Oh God. She was going to take pictures. That meant she was getting out of the car. Shit. Ugh. I felt even more nervous. She was going to meet Jason.
We drove down to the city hall where they were hosting the banquet. As we neared, my phone vibrated with another text from Jason. 'Here, :)'
My heart beat sped up when we parked. "Hey, Chelsea, is Logan here yet?"
"Yes, he said he's waiting with Jason," she grinned at me in the rearview mirror.
"Oh," I gulped, and got out of the car. "Mom, how long will you be here?"
