I looked up at the small, black home. It was perfect. All I needed to do was to move all my stuff in. I opened the door and stepped in. The floorboards creaked as if to say hello.

"Hello to you too," I whispered back. My eyes scanned the walls, memorizing every scratch and dent. Wind blew in from outside making it feel even more magical than it was. This doesn't feel real. Am I really here? I pinched myself for the millionth time today. Sure enough, I am really, truly, in this house, the one that I bought.

I stand there for a moment taking it it when I here a small creak. I look back to see a black cat with brilliant emerald eyes staring back at me. "Oh," I gasp, "What are you doing here?"

The cat strides forward and lays on the floor in front of me. I stoop down to see if he has a name tag but he doesn't. He doesn't even have a collar. I sat down with him and start stroking his head. He purrs loudly in response. I spend the next ten minutes just sitting on the floor with him then decide I should probably start unpacking my things.

I stand, admiring the room I finished unpacking when I heard a knock on the door.

"Hello?" I ask. Quickly, I jog down the stairs and look through the window to see a boy about my age standing there. He blond curly hair and tan skin. He is wearing a bright pink shirt with bracelets lining his wrists. The boy is rocking on heels and smiling. I can already tell that I'm not going to like him.

He bobs his head and turns it to the window I'm standing at. He smiles and waves at me. Oh no, he knows I'm here. Now I can't just pretend I didn't hear him. I think to myself. Sighing to myself, I twist the doorknob and pull on the door.

"Hi," He smiles. "I noticed you just moved in and I though I'd stop by. I'm Charles by the way. Well my name is Charles but no one calls me that. Everyone calls me Charlie. So yeah, I'm Charlie your neighbor." he winks  grins.

I groan then quickly cover my mouth. Charlie giggles then sighs.

"So, um do you need any help unpacking?" I think on what he says. I do need help but not from him. I shake my head then quickly shut the door. I don't think I can make it here if all my neighbors are so nosy. I slump against the closed door and I notice the black cat coming up to me. I stroke his back and he stretches out then curls up next to my feet. I smile a little. "How about we call you..." I remember something I learned back at school, "Onyx." He purrs loudly and I know it's perfect.

My little Onyx. Maybe it wont be so bad living here.
