This story starts in a small southern town in the depths of the middle of nowhere. On a hot summer day in the middle of July.

"Wait up Jonah!" I say running carefully while holding my ice cream cone.

"I'm literally walking at a moderately normal pace, you short people just have it hard." He shouts back still walking forward at the speed of light.

I let out a sigh and jog to catch up.

As I reach his side boom all my delicious sprinkled goodness is on the ground and I'm left with just my cone.

Jonah belts out the most annoying laugh.

"Shut up!" I say snatching his from his hand and walking on.

"You know I was gonna give you mine if anything happened to yours anyway." He says catching up ruffling my hair.

"Shut up." I say in a low tone.

Jonah is my best friend from school, but recently we've been hanging out almost everyday this summer since he's just recently moved in next door to me. Each day this summer has been a new adventure to occupy us from this boring nothingness we call our hometown.

"What do you have planned for us to do today?" I asked.

"Well I'm glad you asked Bisa, follow me." He says grabbing my hand and leading me out the town and into the country side.

The hot summer sun beats on our backs as we run through a large field, Jonah's caramel brown hair glimmers in the light and blows in the wind so beautifully. His arms and presence are so commanding, I'd let him take me to ends of the earth if he truly wanted me to go with him.

The grass gets higher as we approach the tree line that was once a small bush in the distance to now a vast jungle only mere feet away.

"Wait Jonah, what are we doing?" I say stopping in my tracks.

Now see maybe I might've lied a little about going to the ends of the earth with this man.

"We're being explorers, now come on." He says tugging my hand towards the woods.

"Nobody goes in these woods Jonah, it's like a town fact. Not even the hunters hunt here."

"Well that's exactly why we should go then, new territory yet to be explored Bisa. New discoveries and land full of secrets and untold stories just waiting for us to uncover it." He says gazing into my eyes while smushing my cheeks together.

"Plus we'd be the founding fathers of whatever we find, we'd own the rights and we'll become history. Or even better we find someone's trust fund and become RICH!"

It's something about those waterfall blue eyes that can hypnotize me into anything, and we did discover some cool treasures in the abandoned ranch I was too scared to explore last time.

"Fine, but if we leave empty handed and traumatized I'm going to fight you." I say with a sigh.

"Then let's go!"

He turns around and squats down gesturing for me to get on his back and we enter the woods.

I loved when he did that.
