With endless wars now behind him Tobias realized that truly there is no peace in a borrowed half-life.

The phantom pain persisted constantly. Twisting and turning his turmoil did not cease.

In the quiet of the nights Tobias clenched his hands in vain.

The echoes of his battles and the scars inflicted upon his psyche remained.

He sought solace in silent places where he could be calm and still.

Yet the memories of warfare would flood towards him against his will.

The faces of the fallen and their screams filled the air.

Every time lightning flashed swords clashed and guns smoked in his vision.

Haunted at every moment he realized this was a soldier's cross to bear.

Tobias wandered through the empty  desolate cities and their landscapes were vast and wide with destruction all around.

He searched for inner quiet and a place where he could hide from the shadows of the fallen plaguing him like malicious imps.

Every step reminded him constantly of sacrifices made by the endless comrades lost in battles that made no sense.

Calling out to him endlessly from graves where they were unceremoniously laid and forgotten.
