I watched a distant scene through the window. A farmer was discussing with a priest about his dead sheep. He held a lamb; the only survivor of the attack. Though I couldn't hear a whisper, I could tell the farmer was distraught and the priest's attempts to quiet him down were futile.

The door opened to a bulky tall man with brown hair and a mustache. "Alex," He said. "Will you come upstairs and talk with us? It's not good to sit here all day." Alex still stared.

"Alex -"
"How was he attacked?"

The tall man was confused. "Who?" I finally turned away from the window. "Damn it, Denis, Welsh! Reverend Welsh." Denis' figure tightened at Alex's reminder. "I... I don't know," He admitted. "Maybe he was caught at a bad time. He was returning from the neighboring villages spreading good word, you know?" I frowned. "If he was spreading the good word, would He not let him come home safe?" I inquired. Tension was getting high.

"I'm sure there was reason for Reverend Welsh to be attacked." Despite Denis' words, he didn't sound too sure himself. "Something evil is here," I said. Denis looked at me with a disappointed stare. From across the room, I saw his lips part to throw another sentence, but it would be a waste of breath. He turned and shut the door, leaving me to listen to the old stairs cry under his feet.

My attention went back to the window. The priest had left and the farmer was entering the gate to his field, lamb still under his arm. At the bottom of my vision, I saw Reverend Welsh walking up the path to where I resided. What followed him were grey clouds and the smell of oncoming rain.
