Primrose looks at herself in the mirror, her heart racing as fast as a waterfall. Today is the day she thought would never, ever, happen; her debut before the Queen.
She self-consciously messes with the necklace, making sure it is in its proper place.
"Everything.. everything has to be perfect. This is a once in a lifetime chance. Do not let your parents down.. especially Lady Danbury down."
Primrose senses someone in her bedroom open bedroom door. She quickly turns and finds her father, John, smiling.
A red haired, fair skinned man who has just entered his latter years but still in the prime of life. When Primrose sees her father's smile and glisting eyes, she slowly walks up to him. Her father stands in what could be called a gaze or a trance.
She puts her white gloved hand on her father's cheek, a sweet comforting smile graces her lips.
"My.. my goodness.. you look just like your mother. The simple elegance, the smile.. the bright stormy eyes." Father Willoughby says.
"Oh Papa, do not cry!" Primrose says with a light hearted chuckle, trying to hold in tears.
Her father chuckles too. He lightly kisses her gloved hand, once on the back and on the inside. Tears are still falling from his cheeks.
"My dear Prim, how can a father not cry? His dearest, most beautiful masterpiece is making her debut into society! Oh, that painting I made of you.. doesn't compare to how you look right now. A beautiful.. beautiful pure dove." He kisses his daughter with a kiss on her forehead. His lips lingering for a good few seconds.
He pulls away and smiles, taking in her appearance. A beautiful champagne colored empire silhouette dress with a lovely train in the back. White gloves hide her hands and forearms. Atop her hair of red sits a golden tiara.
John Willoughby gently takes his daughter's hand and leads her to the master bedroom.
"Come! Your mother will want to see you!" He says with a smile on his face as he looks at his daughter.
When the two reach the master bedroom, they find a woman with blonde curls atop her head, laying on a chaise lounge sofa. She's busy reading some papers, but when she hears the footsteps her attention is on the visitors.
Primrose enters the room, her father standing in the doorway. The woman on the lounge sofa quickly covers her mouth when she sees the soon to be debutante.
"Good Morning, Mother." Primrose says as she smiles at her mother.
Lady Georgian Willoughby quickly throws her papers onto the other side of the couch, revealing her growing belly that greatly shows, and embracing her daughter. John quickly rushed to steady his wife.
She quickly pushes her husband away and puts her danity hands on her daughter's cheeks, which makes her smile. Revealing a dimple.
"My dear Primrose... A vision of youth and love." Lady Willoughby says as she rubs her cheek bone.
As the Willoughby family is busy and focused on their daughter and the big day, a maid enters the room.
"Sir Willoughby, Lady Danbury is waiting in the foyer." The maid announces.
At this news, John Willoughby nods and walks over to his daughter.
"Well.. I better let the Lady Danbury know your ready."
Mister Willoughby gently takes his daughter's hands and then kisses her forehead.
"I'm sorry me nor your mother can make it to the ceremony, but know we will be there in your heart." Willoughby whispers and then rushes out to greet their expected guest.
